| I looked for discussions concerning software for the individual owner operator so I wouldn't bore anyone, but didn't find any. My question is, which one is best geared for the 1 truck O/O and has a easy to use format with tax reporting? |

| There are several trucking software packages on the market. Unless you need to do your own fuel taxes, Trucknpro makes a good package. It will calculate the IFTA miles but won't actually do the taxes for you. It is easy to use and not very expensive. www.foglinesoftware.com is their web address. Easy Trucking will do everything including the fuel tax calculations. www.easytrucking.com is their web address. Truckers Helper is a little more complicated but is also a good program. They have several variations of the program which are available, from a single truck to more than 100. www.truckershelper.com is their address. I believe all three of these offer an online demo or trial. There are other programs on the market. Some will import into standard accounting programs. I suggest you look at their demo or trial and see which one you prefer. There are some on the market which cost over $1,000. I would not spend that much money on software for a single truck operation. In fact, you could do everything with a good spreadsheet program, such as excel. |

I've been an o/o for six years or so.
One of these days I'm gonna have to try that truckers helper thing.
I'm quite happy with my pen and notebook for my IFTA, and my quickbooks for expense tracking though. |
