| Just wondering how many people will say they always log it as they run it and do not cheat on their logs. |

| having worked for slow companies and local I haven't had to worry about cheating too much. If it ever came to brass tacks I would cheat only so far as to find a safe place to park. |

| Won't get me to admit anything illegal in print! Remember, DOT can monitor these forums and very easily can get a warrant to get your identity and audit you!! |

Logging LEGAL?? Yes!!
The few times that I had my log book reviewed by DOT, it was always legal.
Now, did I "rethink my logging perspectives" at the end of the day??
Well........ |

Read the few links below that discuss what happened to a truck driver running over his hours of service . As someone stated in one of the links below I am sure he didn't want to hurt anyone, however he is the one that got behind the wheel knowing he was over his hours of service.
This whole accident was based on the fact he was driving over his 11 & 14 hour rule!
Do a research on Truck driver Taylor University and you can find more articles. Keep in mind when they mention fatigue they get "fatigue" from knowing the driver was over his hours of service.
The driver is in prison at this time. To me he got darn lucky and only served 4 years in prison. Thanks to the family for not pushing harder I am sure

No one said they're modifying their logs to the point that it lets them run 24/7. Most people that I've talked to say they change it enough to let them run an extra hour or two that they've lost while sitting in a dock somewhere because of someone else's fault.
Is it wrong? Yup
Do I do it myself? I plead the 5th. |

| I know of a former driver from WI, that got into an accident some years ago. Because of road construction in Milwaukee, he was about 20 minutes over on his 70. Five years in prison for FELONY MANSLAUGHTER. And, of course, he lost EVERYTHING... House, family and all. |

Here is another story now maybe you migh want to understand what can happen if you run illegal (yes fudging by 1-2 hours is illegal).
Now pushing it this far is really asking for it. So if you just totally ignore the Hours of Service regulations and run as you please, lets hope you make it and you don't kill anyone else in the mean time. The guilt you will carry as the truck driver in the court room

I feel for the driver, he probably didn't have anyone telling him what could happen if he ran illegal. He probably had someone telling him I don't care here is how you get around it and laughing when he got passed the scales.
God how I would love to personally talk to this guy and find out how he really felt then and how he feels now  |

Do you really believe that these guys don't know what could happen? Anybody that doesn't live under a rock already knows that drivers have ended up in prison. |
