| I didn't even know about this until I got home and my mother DVR'd it for me. Apparently the Today Show does a "Dangerous Job" segment and on Wednesday Meredith Viera did one on truck driving. First she went to a driving school and then rode along with a driver. What's really great about it is she rode along with a Marten driver ! Check it out if you want...... http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/24755012#24755012 |

| That was FAR BETTER than some years ago when another news person rode along with a guy from Maine to California... And showed all the things he did wrong wtih his log book and even to using drugs. The industry NEEDS far more of this. The public has no idea what the real job consists of, or how dependant they are on us. |

| NBC's Nascar pit reporter Lindsay Czarniack? out of their NBC4 affiliate in DC did a ride along with one of the Nascar haulers last year as part of NBC's pre-race show for the following week in New Hamsphire. It was only about 4 minutes but it was pretty good and she was a good sport about it. She is a tomboy in a super model body. |

They found the worst strung out supertrucker skank boy they could, and got him to admit to everything on camera for posterior. "Oh yeah, when I'm tired after driving 400,000 miles a week on 12 logbooks with 48 different licenses, I just swallow twelve bottles of these pills, and drink a few gallons of tequila, then I'm good to go for another eight days straight."
I'm blowing it out of proportion because I don't really remember everything the guy actually said, but it was at that extreme. He was owning up to all kinds of mayhem right on national TV, and making us all look terrible at a time when hands like that were just '70s throwbacks, and not the norm. |
