After about 7 months of "no-dice" with endless, trucking job-hunts, I've finally come across a company that's decided to hire me on.
They're a smaller outfit out of Van Nuys, CA that specialize in hauling produce from SoCal, out to the NorthEast, and back again.
They've got '07 and '08 Volvo's and run strictly team.
Team-running was the reason I left the first company I was trained by, CRST, but in light of my circumstances, I'll go ahead and soldier on for the six months I need to get back into my former company.
If it wasn't for being transferred over to a security post at a tire-D/C, I probably would've never learned of this company.
I'm not going to say I'm overly-ecstatic, but it feels like a load of bricks was just taken off my chest.
I start this job after my supervisor at my current work finds a replacement. |

Congratulations, Bentstrider! I didn't realize it was TEAMING that caused you to lose/quit your first job.... but, whatever.
Anyway, teaming is not the WORST method of trucking..... and it IS still trucking!
I wish you the BEST, and am GLAD you were able to get back in before too much time had gone by!
I HOPE you don't have to do the really nasty part of the N.E.! I suppose you are talking more like Maryland and P.A. Maybe, Jersey! If so.... not too bad. Like ME, you will be out and back in less than a week and have some hometime EVERY week!
A paycheck is a wonderful thing! Good luck and stay after it! You'll get what you want eventually..... but, you have to be IN the game! I'm REALLY happy for you!

Well thats being nice & "professional" about it, but I wouldnt wait any longer than a standard 2 weeks. I'm a firm believer in not screwing yourself.... |

Thanks for all support.
Perhaps this team-experience will help me hone my existing skills into something greater once I go solo in the next, six months.
I've also decided to look into some refresher, college courses while going out on the road.
I figure while I'm out there, I'll give school another chance as well.
Anything to make the time fly by.
Aside from that, I'll be making damned sure to get plenty of sleep as well.
One accident is bad enough, so here's to keeping the rubber side down. |
