So I got a call from my boss at Ryder this morning and he tells me that on the 14th, he and the head honcho of the place we will be shipping for will be having a meeting, so he told me to come up with a list of any questions I have for him/mr. honcho that he can present at the meeting. Pretty nice of him to ask my input, but I cant think of a whole lot to ask besides Basic Pay/benefits/vacation, which I already know what they will be.

Can Someone help me out?

You could ask something about their strategy for dealing with higher fuel prices and if they are finding it harder to compete with more fuel efficient rail transportation.

Ok, to make this a little easier, here is what I do know.

It's a dedicated (covered wagon/flatbed) drop&hook route..Kinda..

*One week, I will Go from New Stanton, PA to Quakertown, PA. Drop/hook, and come home. Do this all week.

*Next week, I will go from New Stanton, PA to Pittsburgh, PA area and make multiple deliveries a day.

So you get the picture, one week to Quakertown, the next week to Pittsburgh and alternate every week.

*I do know that benefits will cost me approx. $80.00/week for me/family.

*I do know the contract to do this was signed for 3 years.

Thats basically all I know. Are there any other questions that would benefit me asking? Thanks in advance. Jim

Did your boss tell you what the topics of the meeting was supposed to be?

Sorry, I think I'm confused here. You work for Ryder and Ryder is getting ready to have a meeting with a customer that you will be hauling things for - am I right so far? If your paycheck comes from Ryder then the questions about pay and benefits should be directed to them not their customer.

dle, you are correct.
They're having the meeting to discuss pretty much everything I guess (including me and the other driver for the run), and the boss basically told me that if there is anything that I can think of that will benefit me, to write it down and he will ask about it at the meeting...

And like you said, pay and benefits are on Ryder, so this again go's back to the original reason for posting this is...I cant think of anything I would want additional information about, but at the same time, I dont wanna waste an opportunity (especially when the boss actually gives a $&!+ what I think), and then a week later, have all kinds of questions.

I dunno what to tell you to ask them. Maybe ask how set the del. times are. If they will work with you if you are late and not make a big deal. I dunno what to tell ya jim. Dont really do that kinda work. I haul rocks lol. Give me sometime i am sure i can come up with something.

Tell your boss to tell them you want hot coffee there waiting for you.

In that case the kind of questions that I would ask would be

Are the routes set with no deviations allowed?
If there are problems with meeting P/U or Delivery Appointments who do I contact?
What paperwork am I to keep track of, what/how/to whom do I send it to?
Who do I clear time-off requests with first?
Are the P/U and Delivery locations the same everytime or will they change, how frequently?

Don't even mention the "L" word....

Get it figured out so it will be as efficient as possible...for EVEREYONE involved. What things slow YOU down, cost your boss $$? Waiting to load/unload, traffic times, shift{s} time. With cell / radio phones things should be able to click right along, unless there is a hold up somewhere in the plan.
