Call it a Blessing or call it a Quick Fix, I think it will really help the O/Os who've been struggling to get their feet back under them again.
Opinions? |

LOL. How much will come off the pump price? 21 cents a gallon?
If that makes the difference between making money and going broke, I don't know what will help them.
I think the tax holiday is a joke. |

Hey- that's $72 off a full 300 gallons (yes, I know, the most I've ever put in at one time is 225 gallons).
Still, better than nothing. That's the difference between California fuel prices and fuel in Indiana.
Plus, some states are considering rolling back their fuel taxes for the summer. |

Okay I will admit that the reduction of the fuel price by a few cents of the tax will not make a big difference in the bottom line, HOWEVER, it will provide a slight amount of relief. After all the government raised more money in TAXES last year than the profit of all the oil companies put together.
Exxon Mobil's profit on a gallon of Gasoline last year was a whopping 9.5 CENTS per gallon. Sure lets steal their profits with a tax and give us a rebate. Like that will make a difference.
Shouldn't we point the blame at the enviromarxists who have prohibited any electric power plants being built from nuclear or coal. Only FORTY PERCENT of the oil in the US is used for motor fuel. A lot is used for so called clean heat and electricity. This is a self fulfilling prophecy on the part of the stoneagists since pollution in the atmosphere reflects heat from the sun back into space. Clean pollution free power CAUSES global warming, and not because of the carbon dioxide HOAX. |

| I think it could boost their arguement for tolls on existing interstates. What needs to be done is use the tax revenue to rebuild and improve the infrastructure instead of siphoning it off for other projects  |

| Tell you what - if 21 cents isn't a big deal, lets jack it up another 21 cents and see who does and doesn't complain. |

| Come on guys, They'll simply raise the price of fuel to cover the taxes, and continue business as usual. |

| There's a difference between a fuel tax holiday and a windfall profits tax. Hillary is talking about imposing a windfall profits tax on the oil companies to "pay for" a temporary suspension of the fuel taxes. I'm just talking about the suspendng the fuel taxes over the summer. It's related but not equivalent. |

Can someone please explain how a fuel tax holiday works? After all, those fuel taxes are used to offset the highway use taxes. As far as I can see, you'll end up paying the taxes anyway, whether you pay them at the pump or not.
Am I just not looking at this correctly? :? It seems to me that if the states really wanted to help the truckers, they would do something about the highway use taxes. |

You are exactly right. You will end up paying them one way or the other and will still pay them at the pump if they decide to cut fuel tax then impose windfall tax on oil companies. The more the government takes from those companies the more they are going to charge us to recoup that profit margin, who knows, cutting the gas tax may end up costing you more in the end. The oild companies are going to meet their margins like they always do and you know damn well anything the government loses from cutting gas tax they will take back from you in another area. Its all political trckery crap, its damn near close to trying to buy votes. If they really wanted to do something to help and had our best interests in mind they would have worked on solutions long before diesel and gas started hitting $4 a gallon. I kind of see it as a spit in the face that things have been allowed to get in such piss poor conditions and now they want to throw .20 cents our way for a couple of months. And as said above in another post, it will probably just be a gateway to pushing harder for tolls that will cost you more than the fuel tax in the first place. They can keep their fuel tax for all i care, do something thats really going to make a difference and stop trying to buy the votes with a token gesture. |

Like the "fuel tax holiday" was ever supposed to help truckers
It's there so 4 wheelers can eat at fast food joints more often. |

Fuel can hit $10 a gallon for all I care. Every time the price of fuel goes up 30 cents, my profit goes up 1 CPM. |

| The way I heard this explained on the radio today; the propposal is not a fuel tax holiday, but rather a sales tax holiday. |
