| Sister company of Covenant Transport. If it was me I'd say no thanks, but do what is in your best interests. Good luck. |

| The fact that they are owned by Covenant would be enough for me to look elsewhere. |

I've been with Star since February 2007. Yes, they do get you home most weekends, but you will also often find yourself sitting around truck stops waiting for loads until you run out of hours, and running a lot of 200-300 mile short hops that have you spending more time at docks than behind the wheel.
In the past year, I've averaged 1861 miles per week. I'm grateful to Star for the training and experience I've gained but that's not enough to pay my bills. So, as soon as possible I'm going to get the Hazmat endorsement and move on to Crete. |

Star WAS and let me be sure you understand WAS a good place to work.
As soon as the Covenant boys showed up things began to slide downhill.
Insurance doubled, deductibles tripled, prescriptions got more expensive, miles dropped, lots of whining about costs.
Many loads are Covenant cast offs as are the "new" trailers. We have been told we arent getting new trucks for a long while.
My average mileage is inder 2000 and its time for me to go somewhere else. In 2006 I was over 3000 a week until Uncle Dave Parker bought the place. He lets Covenant be rung like a second rate outfit with no clue or compassion. Star is becoming that way too.
I dont blame my dispatcher as he works hard to keep his guys rollin but the management is clueless and could care less.
Run the other way! |

| I have been with star since March and this is my first company. I have found that I average around 1800 miles per week and have gotten home every weekend except for one. (This includes training.) I do agree with some of the other guys that you will sit long periods of time waiting on loads, especially in the northeast. |
