With the roads to Yellowknife shut down till the ferry is back in the water I have been travelling some different highways these days. Have been spending some time in northeren BC & the Yukon. What a nice change, along with some absolutely stunning scenery.

Some pictures of my recent travels:

Unfortuneately, tho the passes are high & the weather can change in a heartbeat... but what the heck...you get "used" to it...

Just sprintgime in the North shyykatt. We just get used to it   We had a couple of majors in early April at home too...got over 2 ft of snow by the time it was all said & done, but it's all gone now & the grass is starting to turn green. But we are not out of the woods yet...once May long weekend goes by only THEN are we officially out of the snow time! :D :D

With luck the next trip to Whitehorse should be next week, so I'm hoping the weather will co-operate cause there's some spots I noticed that I want to stop & take some shots!

A few more from the Alaska Highway:

The highway literally follows the lake here...VERY narrow & winding...20 mph curves...don't mess up...or you're in the drink!

More mountains!

Thanks Roses! :D :D I just kept hoping I wouldn't meet another truck, cause I barely managed to stay in my lane, those roads were never made for the off-track of a 53ft trailer!

Thats MY road. =P

Muncho has one bad corner. We run that stretch at 80 kmh. Don't be slowin down the locals! lol There is only one spot on that whole highway where 2 53's cant meet, and thats that 1 on Muncho.

Are you still pulling for Grimshaw? I've never seen that name up here before?

Oddly enough, in 3 years this is the only accident I ever saw, or ever heard of on that corner. A Trimac tanker hauling emulsion oil took it at about 60 k and went over. (This is just the pup thats left)

Lady Northstar and Kat, keep posting your pictures !!!! I ran the Alcan for 35 years out of Fairbanks, till I decided I wanted to be warm in the winter :? :?
Told my boss one time "This is the last time I am going to do it !" He said "Why" I said "The Canadians are taking all the fun outa it, straighten it all out" :D :D Muncho is about all they have left of the Old Road. Never would have belived they could have "fixed" Steamboat.

Yea the straight sucks. I could run from the Hot Springs to Steamboat every day forever and never get bored. A good investment in lights for the front of the truck, and you're good to go.
