Okay,
I'll try posting this message here since under the "Job Posting" forum I'm not getting any response. I stepped out of driving in 1998 when the company I was working for was bought out. This was driving a mobile television production truck, a prime driving job!! :P I did this for 2 years, prior to that I drove cattle coffins for Navajo Shippers out of Denver for a little over 6 months (left them to do the TV truck job). Prior to that Schneider National trained me, including the skid pad training in Green Bay, but they would never get me home so I left them after 6 months. In all, I have 3 years experience.
I am out of work and have maintained my Class A CDL to fall back on,.. well folks, its time for me to fall back!! :sad: But I'm not sure where to apply or who to call. I don't believe it will take long to get "back in the saddle", I have no accidents or violations. I hauled freight nationwide, coast to coast, top to bottom.
So I don't "think" I'm a new driver, I know most of the pitfalls. Are there any good places to look for work where income will be steady and I can get some home time to be in my church? Ideas would be appreiated folks,.. Thanks :!: |

| Im going to have to venture out and say youll need to be "re-trained" before a company will touch you. Especially with the insurance now. |

| sorry to say but most large Co. will consider you as untrained, but many also offer the training you would need check out the trucking compenys section here and start calling, BOL |

Thanks, I do realize I would have to go out with someone on a trip, etc.. I'm more than willing to do that but I guess what I'm looking for is not to go withe the wrong company and be unhappy in 6 months, that's not a good place to be.

| when I drove for maverick I remember in my orientation class there were a couple guys that had been out of trucking for 10 years or more and they took them. Maverick is flatbed. |

Pay attention to the OTR trucks you see on a regular basis on the interstate nearest you. Chances are good that at least one of the carriers could get you home every weekend or every other weekend.
Check out the nearest truck stop(s). See what carriers are regularly in the lot.
As your list of carriers develops, start researching them here (use the search feature as well as ask questions). |

Actually after I drove this unit I drove one that was what they call a "double expando", you blew out both sides once you had it leveled, off the 5th wheel, etc. By the way, we NEVER used grease on the 5th wheel, ran a plate on it.
Inside these are full blown TV production studios, this one was valued around 8 mil with the equipment it had inside. I posted some pictures in the album section of various sets the truck was parked...

| My husband drove in the end of the 90s, then did something else for over 6 or 7 years and then wanted to go back to driving. He had to do a refresher course, which you can get at most truck driving schools but they are also not cheap. A refresher is shorter than regular CDL. So with your 10 years I doubt they'll hire you just like that; they'll probably see it the same way that you're a 'new' hire or refresher or whatever. I wish you the best of luck!! |

Well, if you're not picky, I spent 8 yrs off the road and Shelton Trucking just hired me. Watkins Shepard gave me a green light, but I turned it down because they wanted me to stay out 5 weeks at a time. Maverick would have hired me but I couldn't prove my last 2 years of self employement.
These are the ones that considered me:
Shelton
Maverick
Watkins Sheppard
Arrow Trucking
