i listen to a variety ranging from death/black/heavy metal to old skool rap, smooth jazz, mariachi, and electronic dance music. it all depends on my mood. when i want to listen to the local radio stations, i'll turn to whatever i can find. sometimes it's soft rock like the phil collins and police kind of stuff. sometimes it's cheesy 80's synth-pop, which is my #1 guilty pleasure. it's something about the 80's and its cheesiness that makes me smile. it's also the decade in which breakdancing was invented. mariachi is good when i cannot get any other radio stations. there's the stuff that sounds good if you were out with your friends getting drunk, lip-syncing while you're wasted, and having a great time altogether. other than that, i have ripped well over 300 cd's to the hard-drive of my laptop. before a trip, i put together a playlist that lasts well over 40hrs.

I rarely listen to music while driving. The radio is normally on a talk-radio show of some sort.

That 80's stuff isn't cheesy. I grew up with that in college. All those geat bands used to play at Rutgers. I saw REM at the gym, Souixe played there as well. I was about 3ft. from Living Color and they performed "Cult Of Personality". I think there were 10 people in the crowd. I saw Depeche Mode with Nitzer Ebb. They were a fun group.

Now the big hair bands were cheesy.  Now I'm showing my age

The 80's isn't cheesy compared to the rap of today such as Soulja Boy. Now his songs are cheesy and yet he gets radio play on the stations all the time. One of the many reasons why I'm starting to hate rap!

Thats what I generally listen to...Fox news/Talk or Patriot on Sirius.
If I do listen to music, occassionally late night drives, when Talk is all repeats, Ill listen to 70's or Classics rock 70's 80's (sometimes 60's).
Or...when I need a laugh...Blue Collar Comedy.

like i said, i prefer the old skool stuff. i like the stuff that came out between 1982 and 1993.

the cheesy 80's music that i also like is some of that bubblegum stuff from fast times at ridgemont high's opening scene in the mall where everybody was at work. a flock of seagulls, devo, depeche mode, tears for fears, and foreigner are seriously guilty pleasures of mine. i dunno why.

well, i kinda do with foreigner. it stems from the episode of aqua teen hunger force where the mooninites were introduced, corrupted meatwad with a huge magical foreigner belt buckle, and put spells on him, frylocke, and their white trash neighbor, carl by quoting song titles such as "dirty whiteboy" and "double vision". carl gained control of the mighty belt buckle near the end of the episode and put a spell on himself. he quoted something with "mindgames" and his head turned into that old milton bradley game where you had to get four black or red pieces in a line.

Can't go wrong with Iron Maiden and Tygers of Pan Tang. It's gotta be hard and heavy, or it might as well be relegated to elevator music.
