The band type load seals are easy enough to break. But how does one break those bolt type load seals?

I refuse to answer how I did it earlier today. :) But I know there must be an easier way.

Bolt cutters, eh? I thought were only useful for borrowing other driver's load locks. Learn something new every day.

Bolt cutters will work in a pinch. But most receivers use a die grinder. As a rule high security seals shouldn't be removed by the driver... they get a bit ticked at you if you do remove them.

I think in my years I have only had those cut with a die grinder maybe once or twice, only because me or the receiver didnt have bolt cutters.

A driver should never remove any kind of security seal without permission. With that said I have had to remove bolt seals many times over the years. While considered a "high security" seal I have had them placed on trailers with cargoes as common as toilet paper and canned food items.

let me guess. you took a screwdriver, held it against the bolt, bracing it against the door and then banged away at it with a hammer? :P muttering and cursing under your breath and then finally outloud when it took forever and you cracked the plastic on the scewdriver handle? :D

Then after the whole process is completed, the realization occurs that the receiving deptment or the yard driver has bolt cutters. But....they didnt volunteer them to you because its great entertainment for them to watch you struggle with the "bolt" seal from security cameras.
Seriously....My DC recieves alot of shipments, especially from containers that have been bolt sealed, one trailer may even have several on the doors. Recievers at these warehouses generally will have bolt cutters, just got to ask for them.

Bolt seals are bad, but what I hate are the cable seals. I had one load that the guy thought that the seal had to be pulled completely tight against the door latches. The receiver had a hell of a time getting that one off.

Best thing I came up with is I used a air driven cut-off wheel. I had a 75 foot air hose I used on the glad-hands to power the air grinder. I had no problem cutting bolts or cable seals.

As a side note I could also use it to put air in by tires if one was low.

I've got an airline but never even thought of that. Time to look for an el-cheapo cutoff grinder. Thanks for the idea.
