This is your echo and reverb control, it is 2 knobs in one, kinda like the volume and squelch on a cobra or the like.
Disclaimer-blah blah blah license blah blah blah...but you already know that. |

I have heard it said that Echo sometimes boosts the signal but I have absolutely no evidence to support that claim whatsoever.

I got this model about 8 months ago. Its never on except for bad weather or at a receiver though. Nice to have the range and power if needed.

Mackman I just ordered a Cobra 200 10 meter radio. I think I'll be happy with this one. I had a connex and was not impressed. Remember you have to have it "TUNED" to be able to talk 11 meter (CB Band). I did a lot of reading before I chose the Cobra. You can get a bigger radio, but it's gonna cost ya! For the price I could'nt beet this one. I want to find other channels to talk on out here, to get away from the garbage. Maybee someone can help us out on that subject. I paid $289.13 with shipping for the Cobra 200 GTL I don't know if I can say where I bought it from on this forum, but it rimes with "Clay's" :) Good luck. |

I am new to this 10 meter stuff so bare with me. Nope;You have to get it tuned. It's illegal to use a 10 meter to talk CB. Actually it has to be WORKED ON to be able to use it as a c/b. They do there thing and change this and that or add this or the other to make it talk on channel 19. If you just want more wattage go to e-bay and buy a linear. That goes between your radio and its antenna to boost the wattage. It is illegal for them to do the magic they do, so they wont tell you what the "TUNE UP" is for. :) |

| Mack, I have a 10 meter. I was floored by all the buttons. I only want to talk on 19. The shop photo copied a picture of the front panel and drew a picture of how all the buttons and knobs should be placed in case I bumped it or something. |

| Mack, if your using it out of your home, might want to make sure your neighbors are cool with it. Had a neighbor when I was younger that had one that whenever he started keying up, it bled over real bad on our TV and phones. Got to the point that some times, it didn't work at all when he tried to key up........... :shock: but I know nothing of why the line between the antenna and the ground was cut by a knife during the night. :P |

Best advice I can give on 10 meter is-
always look down and make sure there's water in the pool before you dive in. |

ok seriously:
CB is 11 meter Band
google: converting 10 meter radio to 11 meter Band
or look at this;
http://cbradiomagazine.com/March%202007/Magnum%20257%20Review.htm
do you really want to spend $60-80.00 dollars for some CB shop to take your radio around the corner to the back room and use a jewelers screwdriver to flip a DIM pin setting on the motherboard?
Magnum 257
To modify the radio to work on the 11 meter band (these instructions are for the newer blue face models only) you need to remove the speaker side cover and look for the CPU board in the front of the radio near the microphone connector. Like many export radios this board has 4 sets of pins and a jumper that fits on the pins, to convert the radio for expanded operations move the jumper to the CON 3 position and you will have coverage from 25.165 - 29.699 MHz. The frequencies are divided into banks labeled by a letter on the LCD, press the CALL button to go through the bands, the CB band is BAND E. |
