| They take some getting used to, But is'nt hard, save's alot of wear and tear on your left leg & ankle,Nice also in traffic back-ups. Hope that help's some 8) :idea: |

| Ya been there done that & it is a Significant help, my Co has been getting 7.5 or so MPG due to use of this transmission. The main thing is with me anyway was you kinda have to have 1 foot on the brake & on foot on the Go peddle when backing, kinda like Power braking,In a way. Drove one a bunch of years ago at Roehl.
Need the clutch to start and stop.
Still, I like to shift on my own. |

| Friend of mine works @ Fedex. He says the only thing he doesn't like is that they take off so slow it's hard to get across busy intersections. I've never had 1. Right now 3X9's,3X 10's, and 1 good ole 5 speed Mack. |

| I've driven 4 different trucks with auto's and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The only one I wasn't keen on was the "clutchless" one. Gimme a truck with an auto-shift and a clutch pedal and I'm a happy camper. |

Agreed
Never drove a clutchless one.
I do think I shift faster than an auto, especially clinbing hills.
Currently I have a 13 speed and really like that I can split gears.
On flat roads, the auto would be my pick too. |

| gawd i love them, i have a torn rotator cup on right shoulder and 13 speed was killing me. auto matic has allowed me to keep driving until i can afford the surgery. now i ain't ever gonna go back :lol: |

If you ever have to spend time in a traffic jam (I think you guys call them gridlocks) then you’ll love an auto otherwise it’s up and down on the clutch all day. Drives you mad if you live in or around London which is permanently jammed…
Incidentally, in England all cars are manual (stick shift) and all Lorries and vans (trucks). Only high end luxury cars are auto like a Rolls or a Bentley. However, in recent years lots of mid range cars like BMW and Audi are selling loads more auto and they are now options on our big Trucks (like a Renault Magnum). The reason why people are switching to autos? Traffic congestion… |

Not to mention better fuel mileage and less that a new driver can mess up.
My last truck was an '01 Volvo 770. We haul in/out of West Virginia with an average load of 45k in the trailer. Over a years time, the average fuel mileage for that truck was 6.5mpg. My current truck is an '05 Volvo 670 with a straight 10spd. So far since I've gotten it, my mileage average is about 5.5mpg. |
