A while back someone was talking about the epidemic of cracked and broken dashboard framework in the International 5000 Paystars and the 9000 series.

This happens in the area around the parking brake and trailer valve, the symptoms are that the dash tends to "push in" whenever the parking brake or trailer knobs are pushed in.

Reportedly International has a factory kit to remedy this, but we have not been able to obtain said kit.

Here are some photos of a brace that I made up today to repair one of those broken dashboards. Hopefully this will help someone out there who is having the same problem:

Dashboard after reassembly - no external evidence of modification (except that the parking brake and trailer supply valve are now supported so the dashboard doesn't collapse when you push the knobs in:

I saw something like that at truckway shop a mech made it, seems to work well. Good job

Nice work. I wish I had thought about that when I had my cornbinder. Of course I wish I could weld also...but you can't win every battle.
