What in the world is going On.. I could not believe it my friend called and asked me to bring my 2 empty 5 gallon fuel containers to the area where he parks his truck. Seems like last night someone siphon over 100 gallons of fuel out of his truck.

When I got back home I did a google search (stolen gas and diesel) and this is happening alot around the country. has this happen to anyone on this forum?

I stopped by the J in Barstow last week- They had a shelf stacked with those plastic tube hand-siphons. WTH?? They could try to make it a little tougher on the Zoomers...

I think it ought to be a crime to sell those hoses anywhere within 50 miles of a location that sells fuel. Who is kidding who here? I gave some manager a earful about them once. I asked him if this was just some plot to double sell fuel to people. Selling siphon hoses at a truck stop is like selling heroin at a grade school. We have locking fuel caps on all of our equipment that parks away from secured lots, they just pry the caps off of the tanks now... I would love to see a few bodies start turning up here and there. With these #@$%^@ hoses stuffed into their throats..

My dad has had fuel stolen out of his WalMart truck twice in the last 2 years.
They are instructed to park in the WalMart lots whenever possible now.

That is no joke the locking caps would not have stopped the guys with the sharpened pipe that they were somehow driving into the top of the tanks and pumping into a storage tank in the back of their pick up. I will try to find the link and put it up later, but it looked like a very thick pipe with a "T" handle on top and one end was sharpened like a giant syringe and the other had a threaded fitting & hose attached to a pump then into a contracter style in bed fuel tank. I believe this was in Montebello CA.

where did u buy the locks? I've seen them on Iowa80.com but they are 130.00 for a set. Is that the normal price?

I believe that if they really want the fuel they will damage the tank to get it out but if its locked and there are other truck that have there tank open I think they will go for the easier target..

maybe the truck stop does this for the guys who gets his fuel stolen. the victom can buy the siphon hose & a fuel container to get some fuel from another trucker if he has not enough to get truck started to get to fuel pump. bedides most thieves would probably have their burgulary tools already with them.

i used to fuel at end of shift, but now i fuel at the beginning. seems to me that the thieves are hitting full tanks. perhaps lying in wait watching truckers filling their tanks? always seems to be somebody hanging around the fuel islands.
