jedfxg wrote: why is it that every argument with a buster brown guy turns into how much money he/she makes??? just curious. is that all they have to live for is their pay and to try to degrade others for what they make? who gives a $&!+ about your retirment there feederfred. i am glad that you are happily retired, best of luck to ya...honestly...i mean that. but why do you have to get on here and let everyone know about your "comfortable" pension. just be happy with what you got and maybe try to help others out. like i said to some 26 cents might be good money. you do not know where i live and you do not know where youngzw lives...i do, i live about 30 minutes from him. to alot of people in his area and i know for sure in my area that would hold true. it is not about the money but the quality of company that i believe was in question. when will anyone on this board understand that??

Why hold yourselves to such low standards?

Colts- its not that were holding ourselves to low standards or do we think anyone should hold themselves to low standards. We are just simply stating that for some folks .26 cpm driving a truck which has the potential to get them, say $600+ per week, is what they consider decent money. It pays their bills and puts the food on the table.

I don’t understand you guys in these one-horse rustbelt Mayberry towns complaining that there’s no work. If the tonsorial parlor or Stevens are your only options, then maybe it’s a hint and a half for your a$$ that’s it’s time to boogie on down the line to greener pastures.

Jed...you got snookered into rageing by LBJ/CFM.

As for the area where you live...I have seen several places around Point Pleasant and Gallipolis Oh, as well as across the river into West Virginia, that looked quite comfortable to live around, and in. If I had to move again..I thnk I would chose that area over anyplace in MA..especially given that the majority of the people up there look at folks like you, me and ole LBJ/CFM as scum of the earth...for the job we hold..."truckdriver".

LBJ/CFM can crow all he wants about "local" work and "LTL" work. He doesn't get treated any better than you or I by management or the customer he serves. He is dependant on there being enough junior drivers below him on the dispatch board, to ensure that "He" gets his hours. Once they lay-off enough people below him..."He" will be here crying about what a bunch of scumbags management at his terminal are...because he isn't making any money. He won't be making any money, because all the senior drivers above him will be getting "theirs" and not concerned in the least that "He" is not getting his!

Coltsfan is a rookie, didn't like his short experience on the OTR gig, and took a "local" gig to get off the road. I seriously doubt he makes much more than you do...given that he lives in Indiana, where decent paying jobs, are just as lacking as they are in Ohio.

The economy still has a ways to fall before it gets better. Even "senior" people on "local boards" are sweating their paychecks right now.

As for FeederFred..he put in his time, has taken his check and walked into retirement... He and his wife are living in a very decent area....the Tahoe region is incredible...even if the ground has been shaking a bit to much the last few weeks...and he has a decent part time gig, just to break the boredom of retirement...which I for one, don't blame him a bit. It just happens, that the non-union "PTG" that Fred is working..pays very well, even for a part-timer. I'm sure that once the economy has regained it's footing, Fred will go do what his orginal "PTG" intent was...delivering high end RV's to dealerships and their customers. If it happens...more power to him.

Well, my father came from Lowell, Mass and everytime my brothers and I would go there to visit relatives we thanked GOD he had the fore sight to leave and never look back. Even to this day he says it was a nice place to leave....
No offense CFM/Lebron but it is what it is... The northeast has one thing going for it, (the fall colors) and as I have said before all jobs suck in one way or another...... Even UPS Frieght as I am watching the tides change here daily, Last week I was in the top 90% this this week after a few more layoffs it could be possible that my range may drop some, oh well no big deal it is what it is.
$500 a month mortgage payment is not to shabby Jed dont let that one go, mine here in Florida is a whopping $705 with taxes and insurance included, I can make that one working anywhere, so I am not going to sweat the little stuff like getting laid off, Hell I'd just collect unemployment for the summer and hang in the pool with the kids. Life is way to short to worry, if you have common sense and a little work ethic it will come around to the good side at one point or another..

Fair enough, but you could not pay me to live in Florida either.

The reason your job is going under is because most of the economy there is based on construction and tourism. The housing bust, slow economy, and high gas prices are killing that state...hence all the layoffs of police, teachers, etc. And despite a low cost of living and tax rate, not too many businesses want to move to Florida and have a category-5 hurricane come ripping through their HQ.

Seems that most of you chuckleheads took what I wrote the wrong way. I was not belittling those who live in small towns, heck I was born and raised in Ada, Ohio...which for those of you who don't know is where all the offical gameday NFL footballs are still manufactured to this very day. My point was that if there's no industry where you live, then MOVE to where the good-paying jobs are. Why did Timberwolf leave MA for Florida? I'm assuming because of more opportunites, nice weather, lower taxes, etc. If I had to move again, it would be to Texas. Lots of diversified industries and plenty of cheap land.

Oh and btw, my house is paid for and my combined taxes, utilities, and insurance run me $400/month. No layoffs at my barn because the economy here is very stable with MIT, Johns Hopkins, biotech, software, banking, and many defense companies in the nearby area. In fact, last month we just hired two guys in the city.

For some that is not possible. They could have good reasons of why they want to stay in that area. Alos with the housing market the way it is right now, moving could be very unprofitable(one of the reasons why I decide NOT to sell right now)

Hey Young ZW rule number 1, only momma gets to pee in the pool not even I get that pleasure, but occasionaly when no one is looking I do make bubbles....
Lebron, Florida Sucks wind I am only here for my daughter as this is where the ex moved after our divorce, I grew up in a small Colorado Mountain town My father left Mass as Lowell is a very hard town to raise a family in, he did not want that for us. as a kid I hated Idaho Springs, Colorado with a passion but now i look back and wish I could raise my kids there....
You are so right about Florida it is a destination no Frieght leaving here unless it is citrus or flowers They say my job is ok but I only believe half of what I hear, (you know the check is in the mail) things at our barn have changed since ratification. Good thing I live way with in my means only $58,000 more and my home is paid for, but regardless I can survive on $500 a week and what my wife brings in if need be....
I am a disenfranchised American and have been for sometime now, So I just do my job and come home to my family as in the end they will truly be the only ones standing next to me....
Just for the Record Western Mass and the Cape have some awesome sites, Just like every thing else in life there is good and bad....

let me say first that i do get upset when i and the people of my area are classified a certain way. the same as if a black man gets classified a certain way. moving on, the reason alot of people do not leave an economically depressed area is because like me, family or wifes family. i was born and raised in this area and really have no plans on leaving. when a guy can go drive a truck and make 35,000 a year. that may be good to him, that is what we are trying to say. Please do not put him down because of that. there i asked nicely, lets move on to bigger and better things.

i think that it is horse**** that you feel the need to edit my posts but lebron and colts fan can me for the area that i live in, because he is ignorant to what the area is like. you have said before not to get personal with the attacks, well in my mind that is personal. kinda like attacking someone because they are black, jewish, catholic, etc. you get my point. yah i cuss, probably too much but until the rules go for everyone then to hell with it.
