| can anyone tell me if there is a big enough differnce in fuel saving between using a 13 speed as opposed to a 10 speed? we generally run I-10 and I-20 with loads in a dry van weighing average 20,000. average run is 2000 miles. looking for any info why 1 is better for me than the other. |

| Rear end ratio would have to be factored into the equation. I'd run a ten speed trans in your circumstance, they are more durable (imo) than the 13 and given your weight there's no real need for the extra split. |

I'm sorry, did you say 10 speed and durable in one sentence?
Ok, I suppose they are okay. And I don't think I'd go changing them out for the run he describes. |

| 10 speeds being durable has not been my experience. That being said, I am certainly no expert and there must be a reason 89% of all these trucks out here have them. So, I digress...I still prefer the 13. |
