That is NO excuse for not posting. Millions of people wanted to buy trucks and lease to Werner, go lease a truck from England, get their own authority and have never shifted a gear, or wonder where to get freight except for getloaded.com. You let them down.

Just kidding, hope it heals up quickly. We missed ya.

Gman,
Hope your injury heals quickly. Your constructive and rationale posts based on years of both business and trucking experience are sorely missed here.

Take care and best wishes

Thanks for all of your concerns. It is always more difficult when something happens on the road. At least it was my right leg rather than my clutch leg. There is still considerable swelling, so it appears that it will take some time to heal. I can function, but at a slower pace.

Last time I talked to you, you were on your way out to Cali?
Thanks for the tip on those nursery tarps.
The guy had them in stock.

Unfortunately, hoohaa, that is exactly what happened. I was standing on the catwalk watching the forklift operator instead of where I was stepping. I put my foot between the frame and fairing. I pulled my back and hurt my leg from near the pelvis all the way down to my foot. My leg swelled up about 1 1/2 times normal. I am trying to stay off of it as much as possible. It actually happened in California the day before I picked up my truck.

I am glad the guy had those nursery tarps. I hope you are staying busy and getting decent rates.

That sukks!
The reason I asked, because I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago.
Fortunatly I was able to get my right foot off in time, and I just fell on the ground, without my foot getting cought

Last year I did the same thing, and fell on my back on gravel..
THAT HURT!!

Yes 'm very busy now, and the rates are coming up as well.
Also brokers seem to be in need, so I can pretty much up the price that they are offering.

I am glad that you didn't get hurt with your mishap. A friend of mine did the same thing, but his foot hit the drive shaft. It has been about 2 weeks since my incident and I still have a lot of swelling and bruising. A section on my leg just above my knee that is about 6" long and stands about 3-4'' high. It looks as though I have a balloon underneath my skin.

Sorry about your accident there. Hope you feel better soon. I was wondering what happened to you. Take it easy and let the kids do all the work for you and your wife.

Unfortunately, mommee, our nearest relative is about 40 miles from us and she has her own family. We are doing OK, just moving a bit slowly.

Dang Gman, that sounds pretty rough! I hope that balloon under the skin is just swelling. I had a friend that got kicked by a horse and his leg did pretty much tha same thing and it ended up being a busted blood vessel.
Not trying to scare you and I am certainly no doctor but he died in the hospital after they had set his leg ( broken) . Perhaps his being broken makes his injury different from yours ( I hope so ) but nevertheless I thought I would pass that on .

Well, I certainly hope that I am not going to die from this injury. I know I must have burst some blood vessels from all the blue on my leg and foot. I hope to find something out on Tuesday with my doctor.

Ouch! GMAN, it sounds like you might wanna have that leg looked at asap. What would we do without ya on here? Geez, they think the housing crisis is a hit to the economy...just wait till all the o/o's don't have GMAN to fall back on for guidance!

I've been thinking about your accident some. If I understand it correctly, the place where you fell was the gap between the fairings and the frame. That is a VERY dangerous area on those trucks. When I drove for Maverick, I can remember making a mis-step there many times and thinking "man, that would have to hurt". I think I actually did step into the "hole" a couple of times, but always saved myself somehow.

I'm just wandering if maybe there isn't a way to extend the deck plate on each side to cover that area up. You would think it would have become a glaring safety issue at some of these larger companies by now. It's obviously an unsafe design.

I am more confident that you will be just fine. After reading my post it seems that I might have been a bit blunt  Anyway I wish the best for you , you are truly a gem on this forum .
