Has anyone heard of DISTECH Tank Lines (Ithink thats name) A friend gave their name to me to check out .I never heard of them . Just thought I ask around for him.

Sorry if this is off-topic. I just figured since it was labeled tanker cos instead of a specific company, I would post my questions here too:
I read Cyanide and the Ben Kenobe avatar guy's posts about Superior and Carry transit, and they really interested me in tanker companies too. Carry transit hauls out of Jacksonville, FL which is a bonus, but they want 2 years experience. Only a year and 10 months to go! :)
I have seen trucks running around I-75 and was wondering, does anyone know anything about Indian River or Florida Rock and Tank lines? |

Distech is the old Manfredii Tanklines.(if you have ever heard of Manfredii)
Most of their road tractors are Pete 387's, while the majority of their "local" tractors are older fld120's and the like. I have yet to see a Distech terminal with newer equipment for doing local work, but theyre might be one.....probably in California. |

| Hey Orangetxguy do you by chance know anything else about Disttech like how much experience you need, pay, etc? I looked at their website not much info. |

No..sorry I don't. The Beaumont terminal here where I am is O/O only...and I didn't go in to apply. I couldn't even tell you which of their terminals have company drivers and which don't.
If pulling tanks is something you are interested in, there are plenty of outfits out there..that haven't hardly been discussed on this forum.

So far as Superior and Carry are concerned... Whether or not you can get a position with either of them...without the required posted experience... is a decision to be made by the local Terminal Manager. They have some hiring "latitude" as to hiring a new driver and putting them through a training program. You would have to call the local terminal manager and then go and meet with them if they have an opening.

Indian River is food grade, and I do believe they require two years of experience. That may have changed....so I'm not sure. When I spoke to them a few years ago... I wasn't impressed with their pay, hometime, or their overpriced health insurance. FL Rock and Tank.... pulled fuel for them some years ago on a local gig....not good. But that was over ten years ago. Maybe things have changed. They required at least a year or two of experience and hazmat as well.
If you are in the Jax area...I believe CTL has a terminal there. Worked for them a long time ago....and they were ok....but the pay could use some improvements. They are what you might consider a "training company"....a place to get experience then find a real job. |

| Distech (Renamed 3 years ago -formerly Manfredi Motor Transit, Newbury, Ohio-renamed after a large lawsuit over a multi- death fatal accident in Texas) hauls paint for BASF Wyandotte and concrete admixtures. They also haul resins and additives for the chemical industry. Current wages are at or slightly below par for the tank industry. Health and welfare consist of medical (HMO) dental and 401K. Working conditions are good with most drivers home at least once a week and off weekends. Tank/product training is available. Distech requires minimum 1 year exp. a clean DMV report and Hazmat endorsement and a clear background. It's not a bad company at all, my brother has worked there almost 20 years....Some drivers have a guaranteed salary weather they work or not. Hope this helps.. |
