well most good schools will do anything to help you succeed with in reason. The school that I went to drilled you for a week straight and sent us all down to take the test. I would guess 40% of the people had to take a section over but most past the 2nd time. (I passed all 3 tests the 1st try!!!) I have only heard of a few people that had a very hard time, but they are the ones that don't pay attention in class. Now thats NYS who knows how the tests are in you home state.

well if you have time to study do so before school and go take the written tests even before you start school. if you pass you pass if not take it with the class after they taught you. I guess you would have to get a DOT physical first so that might not make much sense to take it on your own. sorry didn't think that one threw

Max .... here's a site that you can practice taking any test you with ...

http://www.testprepreview.com/cdl_practice.htm ....

I suggest you do as I and others have done ~ go to your local Tag Agency and ask for the 'free' CDL manual ... study it when you have time ... this is the same book a school will work out of. It's only as hard as you make it ... when I first went out on the hwy all I did was pick up this manual - study it at home and went took the permit test .... after passing it I found a company that would hire me with only a permit and teach me the rest. Now a days ..... companys won't do that - Insurance companys tell the trucking companys what to do and how to do it. :?

You might want to check into this link. It's the state of IL website concerning the CDL. It also allows you to download the study guide.

http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/cdl/home.html

Can't really tell you what IL rules are, but in TX you are allowed to take your permit and driving tests multiple times.

Do you understand the process of how you get your CDL and get a job as a driver?

In Illinois you get 3 attempts on your written test. If you fail 3 times you have to wait 30 days to try again. The school will teach you what you need to know to pass the test.

This is the sight for practice tests my school used:

Good Luck,
