my truck started fine this morning, but after it warmed up...there seems to be a buzzing noise coming from the firewall...

my lights would dim when the the buzz would go on...

i stop the ignition and coudn't start the truck anymore...

funny thing is when i take the keys out...and press on the engine start button my dash lights would go on...

i here a clicking noise and it's coming from a relay that's mounted right onto the firewall by the engine, it has 4-5 wires connected to it. could that be the "starter relay"???

i know it's not the starter just changed it last summer...anyone experienced a faulty ignition switch or ignition solenoid???

oops almost forgot it's a '97 pete 379 with a 3406e...

yes that is the starter relay, sometimes it gets stuck in a dead spot. usually a light tap will get it going, if it continually does it, replace it

Take something like a screwdriver and touck the two big posts together. It'll send current directly to the starter. Don't make too many sparks

decided to change the starter and the truck started...

wonder what could've caused the solenoid on the starter to short...

the connections was all gunky and dirty wonder if that was the cause...
