|
|
My husband frequently joins me on the road, now. After the first couple of months, however, I can tell he's getting bored.
Do any of your husbands ride along? If so, what (other than napping) activities do they keep themselves busy with???
He's even begun to read to me!! (I happen to actually LOVE that part, though)
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated---I don't want to lose my roadie!! |

My parents would always sit and watch people go by, and find faults in them.
Kept them from arguing with each other, they were entertained,
and it probably made themselves feel better about each other.
Get him a set of bongo's. That always puts a smile on someones face. 8)
Later a Ukulele. :D |

Here are a few suggestions:
1] Computer Games played on something that looks like a calculator.
2] Crossword Puzzles.
3] Trivial Pursuit.
4] Reading about places you would both like to visit. Either in the
states or outside if you are so inclined.
5] List of things that need to be done at home when you return and how
to set about accomplishing those tasks quickly upon your return.
6] Increasing your vocabularies by obtaining books that give meanings
to words such as a Thesaurus.
7] Listening to books on tape.
8] Playing on the internet.
9] Looking up people you've lost contact with via the internet.
10] Guess too many of these are centered around the computer-hope you
have a laptop on the truck. Otherwise, some of these suggestions
won't work!!! :) 8) |

Perhaps Roadhog those were just "too female" suggestions. They sounded good to me. Oh well, I entertain myself and that's enough for me. Can't imagine entertaining someone else on the truck.
Well.... on second thought I could but. I'll leave it at that. UM!!!   |

A PSP is pretty cool and has many features, headset cuts down on the noise and interference and can play online with friends.
Digital camera for pics or video take cool shots of things.
If he likes to read to you Anything by Francine Rivers is great I would recommend Redeming Love and then you may need to log sleeper berth time  |

just give him a list of the things that need done around the house and inform him that there will be no consumption of alcoholic beverages at said premises.
That will keep him happily in the truck. |

well im not a husband but i thought since i am going to be riding along with my brother i would post a couple of things i packed in the truck to do besides read my CDL manual.... i brought an MP3 player loaded with most of my favorite tunes (they dont make an MP3 player big enough to hold ALL of them), i have one of those really complicated posters in the tube to color since i cant do jigsaw puzzles, i have a couple of books on a subject that interests me, i have a book on something that i want to learn, i brought some cards and stationery to catch up on letters to my friends in AK, I have a deck of cards and a handheld game that has like 90 games or something on it.
Dont know if any of those ideas would work but thought i would throw them out there for you |

If hubby is at all musically inclined.....buy him a guitar, banjo or mandolin. Self-taught musicians often learn to play by ear.
I've chosen the mandolin myself and plan to take mine with me too. I'm hoping to play as good as my b/f does someday. I know that he takes his instruments with him & gets together with other drivers whenever they've met.
Just a suggestion. |
