Is there a difference in HOS rules for team drivers vs. solos?

If so, what is the difference?

Thank you in advance for your help.

There is no difference, but you will bump into the regs less.

Given that a team can legally drive 22hrs per day you can both cover 12hrs per day and never worry about your 14hr day.

You still have to worry about hitting your 70hrs/8 days. You can only go 5 3/4 days running 12 on/12off until you hit your 70.

Any company worth its salt is going to keep a team truck moving. I know talking to the guys from our Truckload division they can run 6000-7000 miles per week.

One slight correction.

A team operation can drive 24 hours per day. Not the 22 hours you stated. Let me explain.

Driver "A" starts driving at midnight.
Driver "A" ends his/her driving at 10:00 am.
Driver "B" starts driving at 10:00 am.
Driver "B" ends his/her driving at 8:00 pm.
Driver "A" has complete his/her 10 hour break (resetting his/her 11 and 14 hour clock).
Driver "A" drives for 4 hours ending the 24 hour period. (he/she could continue driving for additional 6 hours into the next 24 hour period).

Needless to say this does not include such things as fueling, inspections, etc. which would reduce driving time during the 24 hour period.

Same concept can be applied for a solo driver.

Ian - just curious about Con-way's truckload division. My wife and I are starting soon with them. How do the truckload teams like working for Con-way?

I've searched every trucking board I can find, with nothing bad being said about the truckload division.

I'm looking forward to getting into the VN670 - alot different than the '96 Western Star I'd been piloting.

Thank you in advance for your reply.
