I think a little sooner for the first one...say, lap 23, and again on lap...
hold on, forgive me, but how many laps is it? I thought it was only 160 laps. |

It was nobody's fault, a racing deal. Denny got loose and had to lift, Tony wasn't expecting him to lift and Tony was packed up underneath of him so it was a bad time for Denny to get loose and have to lift. Everybody was ill handling for most of the race, hence why they got so spread out.
Jaime did a great job though he was driving like a rookie an awful lot. He was constantly jumping out of line. He and Gordon passed one another about 20 times during the middle portion of the race. Gordon would pass Jaime going into Turn 1, Jaime would pass him back coming off of Turn 2 and drive away only for Jamie to jump out and pass Gordon back coming off of 4. He got Gordon a little angry with about 10 laps to go. Drilled Gordon in the Tri-oval and got him sideways and kept pushing. Shoved a sideways Gordon into JJ and turned him sideways too. Looked like a bulldozer going. Heck of a save by both to not wreck the entire field. |

| yeah it kinda was. Stewart said that Hamlin was getting loose in the turns for 2 laps prior to this happening. What a good driver would do would back off of the guy in front of you in the turns if this was happening and then take him on the Straightaways. It is Daytona for God's Sakes. |

Stewart flat ran him over. Way to early in the race for that. Sounds like he and Hamlin aren't getting along anyway. I'll bet Tony was trying to aggrevate him and didnt care if he took the air off his car. He just didnt plan on them both getting taken out. |

That was the problem yoop, nobody could pass one another on the straight's if they didn't get the run off the corner. If Tony lifted, he would not have been able to pull out and go around him and prolly would have got run over himself. The smart thing for Denny would have been to pull high and let'em go by instead of trying to block them. A number of other drivers were doing that very thing early on, pulling out of line and letting the good cars go on by. A few were trying to overdrive what the car was capable of and it got them in trouble. I was hearing something I have rarely heard at Daytona, guys were hardly in the gas in the turns. For example, Gordon's in-car shot, he was fighting the heck out of the car so much that you would have sworn he was running a dirt track. On and off the gas until he was completely off the turn.
Snowman, before last night, the grumblings out of the garage were that Stewart was not very happy at Gibbs. |

I'm sure Denny's success has something to do with that! Nothing a win wont cure and he'll be all happy again. :D |
