Was it enjoyable or one big bore??
I vote for a big bore. They were driving scared until the final segment, then they hung it all out and hoped it wouldn't back into the fence. Why Goodyear did not bring in the tire compound that only lasted for 25 laps is beyond me. With 20 lap sprints they would have had to change 4 tires after every segment (would have brought the crews into play) but it would have made better racing with better grip. The compound they brought was so freakin hard the left side tires could have run all 80 laps without a problem. It was much liked the Las Vegas compound that was used.
The crew chief race was hilarious but too short. They were beating and banging like crazy. Alan Gustafson(crew chief for Kyle Busch) caught 5 foot of air in his Thunder Roadster that had the crowd going nuts. Andy Petree won it with the Lowes Motor Speedway house car. Dominated his heat race and the main event.
How about Jeff Gordon's 3 saves?? The last was with a flat tire where it looked like he was going to pound the wall. The first was when Burton got loose underneath him and just barely tapped him off of turn 4. The roof cam gave a shot that looked like Jeff was attempting to get to pit road he was so sideways. The other was when him and Kyle slightly touched on the start of the 3rd segment.
The 600 is looking to be a wreckfest if Goodyear brings back the same tire. |
