I will not give oida any of my money, one rule and regulation is passed after another to make trucking difficult and not even a fight out of our so called backers at oida!! They have no lobbying power to change things like split speed limits and lane restrictions and the biggest worry of all; Mexican truckers in the USA it wont be long before they are doing work from city to city in the USA just like the Canadian truckers now do. And were will oida be?

lucky13 you need to read a Landline issue front to back before you make another retarded statement like you just did. OOIDA is one of the last places we have that cares about our future. ATA is nothing more then over paid trucking company owners who say what the politians tell them to. And lucky13 its spelled OOIDA, not oida. Ok I said my peace and I'm done.

Well, thanks to a group led by OOIDA, many in the U.S. Senate and the Legislature had their eyes opened to the dangers of opening the southern border to the Mexican based trucks. Which led to a postponement of the border opening. Thanks to OOIDA, DAC has changed some of there policies in accepting reporting (black listing) drivers (of course there is still a case pending with DAC), Because of OOIDA, hundreds, maybe thousands, of drivers have received moneys due to them by the unreputable practices of several companies, because of OOIDA there is an ongoing challenge of the current HOS - in an attempt to bring some balance between safety and drivers rest, and the list goes on.

Down here in South Texas, up to the current trade zone, many of us already have to deal with Mexican based trucks and drivers, that cannot read or speak English, that have no method of accounting for how long they have been driving or on-duty, that have no safety accountablility for the equipment that they are driving. Just last week in Laredo, I followed a loaded Mexican truck - and you can bet I made a phone call to TXDOT:
1. This guy was driving 35mph in a 70
2. 1 brake chamber on the front tandem was hanging from the air line
3. Brake chamber on the rear tandem was completely missing, the line had been pinched off with vise grips (visible from behind)
4. No Brake lights
And I am sure the list goes on. DOT finally stopped this truck going north bound on I35 at the 17 mile marker. As I past this guy, I noticed the drivers door was held closed by a bungee. The tractor appeared to be a early to mid '70's cab-over, could not tell what make.

Although this could possibly be a worst case scenario, imagine a truck at even half the visible defects passing through OK City, Tulsa or any other town in your home state.

I am sure that since you state OOIDA does nothing, I must have assumed you were not a professional driver that keeps up with trucking issues that effect not only us drivers, but the entire economy as a whole.

Just my opionion and thoughts,

Thank You,

Louis\
