It's looking like I'll be going with Crete!! I'm excited!! :)
My question is whether any of you who presently drive think there will be a difference in the relationship dynamic between a female trainer and student than there would be between a male trainer and a female student?
Stupid sounding question, I know, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are on how much initial, faulty, gender-based assumptions affect the effectiveness of training in a mixed-gender training situation.
I never presented myself as a sexual partner, AT ALL, to any trainer I've had, so that's not what I mean here. It bothered me that they seemed to assume that I was either stupid or naive about everything--and then, still wouldn't answer my questions!!! None of them seemed willing to understand that I was a fully functioning adult BEFORE I boarded the truck for training. That got really old, very quickly.
Do you think there will be a more egalitarian atmosphere with a female trainer? I'm hoping that since she's had to come up through the same macho poop I've had to deal with, that she'll be able to simply teach me the profession.
I worked alongside some of the toughest, coolest men possible, for years, in construction. The nonsense I've run into while trying to get training for this profession has been unbelievable!! I refuse, however, to believe that EVERY man on the road is like the three that I could just choke ("trainers"). I've met some that would actually stop and talk with me, as if I were truly a human being. For those who did that, thank you.
Is it more likely that a female trainer will be able to simply see me as a student, not in any sort of competition, and just teach me the skills necessary to perform my duties well?
(Sorry so longwinded. It's late, and I'm alone with my thoughts  )

Okay......
Note to self:
No one answers you when you rant. Make it a short, tight question.
Got it.

We've had lots of discussions about women/trainer/driver problems. Hard for me to relate, I've never had a problem.

There's a highway in that pic? haha

I'm interested to see other responses to this particular thread as I am about to embark on my own training journey. I've got one month left of school and then I'm going to be heading to whatever company wants me to drive for them for orientation and training.

I've been trying to find information on how other women felt about their training with both male and female trainers. I personally think that it could go either way, as there are just as many rotten "ladies" as there are "gentlemen".

Hope there are some additional responses to this based on personal experiences.

Good luck in whatever direction you go JewelsnTools! Congrats on landing a job with Crete!

I appreciate the well wishes! I'm genuinely excited that this "courtship" has shown such promise...

Forgive me for what must be a redundant post--When I read the other ones, the posts sounded like they were going in a completely different direction. My bad!
