| We're looking at possibly moving back into Oklahoma at some point, and were wondering how hard or what we need to be prepared for in transferring my husband's CDL. I tried searching for an easy explanation online but didn't get anywhere. Thanks! |

When I moved to Georgia, all I had to do was go in and pay the fee to transfer, I also had to take the hazmat test again. |

Just be ready to provide all the documentation Oklahoma requires for an out-of-state conversion. Check the state's motor vehicle department website, but I'd assume you'd need to provide:
The current CDL
A valid medical card
A social security card
Proofs of residency, which can include a copy of your lease or mortage, and copies of mail such as bank statements. |

The only thing you need to be prepared for is to take the hazmat test again and possibly undergo another background check.
Other than that it should only be a matter of applying for a liscence in your new state. |

There are some states that are requiring a valid med card before they will issue a CDL. I do not know about Oklahoma, but the advice of checking what documentation any given state requires is vaild, including if they require a current med certificate. |

| in TN if you don't have your valid medical card with you when you have a cdl then you don't have a license.. you can't do anything at dmv without having your valid medical card with you. also in TN as of 10-18-06 you need to bring your birth certificate to take the has-mat test. |

But tn is not yet requiring the background check so I guess there are no terrorists there. |

Well at least none of them here are driving trucks.
But I did hear the Nashville Int'l Airport was shut down the other day.
Yea, a Swift driver was going down the runway looking for a Pilot.
Oldest joke in the book... |

| Thanks all :) Doesn't look to be too hard or expensive after all, which is great news. |

All states were required to do background check on Hazmat licenses since May 5, 2003. See: http://development04.teamster.org/resources/sh/factsheets/hazmatbackgroundchecksFAQs_0205.pdf
