Unless you spend 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper it does not matter if you log sleeper or off-duty. Basically if you start at 7:30 am, you can drive only 11 hours during the next 14 hours. You can take as many breaks as you want during the day but you must stop driving at or prior to 9:30 PM. You can for instance, end your "driving" day at 9:30 PM and fuel after that time, load after that time, unload after that time, conduct inspections, maintenance or anything else you want to after the 14 hours. If it is logged as on-duty time however it does count towards your 70 hours and 10 consecutive hours must elapse after the last on-duty status of the day prior to driving again.

hey rickstephenz:

you are okay with the example you have as you only drove for a total of 11 hrs. Just remember that you can only drive 11hrs in a 14 hour period of on duty.

Rick, it sounds like you are over thinking things here and getting yourself confused.

In your example you are fine.

Just keep these things in mind:

A 10 hour break will reset your 11 and 14
Once you start your day, nothing stops the 14 hour rule.
Forget about split logging. It is pretty much worthless any more.

When at the dock, log what you were doing, but other than to account for your time, line 1 and 2 does not really mean anything if there is less than 10 consecutive hours total between the 2.

As far as your example, I think you are okay. But, it may not always work out that way. I can't help you further, although I am well versed in the HOS regs, because I don't speak whatever language you are using.

Please do NOT turn this board into some "text message platform" for those who can't speak and type English.

Best I can tell, you don't understand the HOS any better than you do English. You don't "make up" hours in this system.

But, no, sitting at a dock NEVER goes against line 3. But, if you sit there for 8 hours, you will run out of your 14 before you can drive 11.

Tk U, & gd lk kid.

If he sits there for 8 hrs,and assuming he is in the sleeper it stops his 14 hr clock

As usual all questions gets turned into an attack for some reason! Why? Golf: I do not see anywhere that he (original poster) made any rude comments to you. It seemeed he came on here to ask a geniune question. You then attacked him about his spelling/grammar. Again if you all can't understand this is a trucker website and you have all kinds of truck drivers. Yeah some can speak very well english and some can not. YOu have some that can type very well & some who can't. You should not judge someone on the biass of a computer unless they deserve to be judged that way.
If everyone on this board/thread would vistors more welcome I think there would be more left for discussion. THat's just MHO :).

I can however attack several on this board for many reason, BUT I WON'T. I am not that low :).

It’s very hard to read your post, that’s what Hobo was referring to. You need to get a little closer to the right spelling, and make better use of grammar and punctuation!!!!

I nominate this for the most inaccurate statement of 2007.

I nominate this as the second most inaccurate statement of 2007.
