well my husband leased with the detroit terminal last week, and as soon as the medical stuff came back was on a load the next day. He is in Georgia right now and will be back to Michigan for the 4th of july. He says they seem better organized than QC. They didn't even send him with a driver to lern the Dana/Suttles method. And he didn't go to any training. He is hoping he gets the paperwork filled out ok, but Carl said not to worry about it, he would look every thing over when he gets back to this area. So, so far Jamie thinks Dana is great.

I was wondering if there is a rider policy at Dana? Or as with most tanker companies a rider is not possible? I understand about the insurance issues with haz mat loads.

I gave him all the advice that is found in your post here Mike, Jamie drives a newer blue Kenworth 900. He has a big sleeper ( 86" maybe?) Watch for him to say hey.

We are allowed to take immediate family,I think 2 times a year?

With the "change" coming I am not sure if this will stay the same or not,will keep an eye out for him,Carl is a super nice guy.

Good lord. I've been kickin ass since the 27th of june, and still won't catch up to you, even if august is as good to me as july was!!!!

2 weeks of breakdown in may, then 2 weeks of vacation in june killed me.....but man....was I relaxed when I came back to work!!!

25 pages, just read them all.

The jury is still out on this mileage job with QC. Two main concerns:

I absolutely, utterly miss controlling the if, when and where of my driving. I wonder if I can stay in tankers and ever get that back again.

Secondly, I don't like to think what 45,000lbs of moving liquid is doing to my truck. What really gets me is some of those starts, when the liquid is moving backwards, and then *BAM* Oh, my poor flywheel (or clutch plate or tranny or rears or...) Everyone says you get better at it, but I seriously doubt anyone is eliminating it.

I guess there is one last thing. With so much fuel money moving through these trucks, right now is a time when guys can really boost their profits by beating 6mpg. Running heavy like this, we're probably running 1 to 1.5 mpg less than we would with light freight.

On the other hand, I've never gotten detention or layover like I am now. It's practical miles and not shortest or HHG- I just respect any company for going with an accurate mileage program. I never have to worry about looking for a load, the more I deadhead the merrier.

I just want back control of my life. :cry: Seriously, I could have stayed at Landstar indefinitely if it weren't for a couple things including the fact that I wasn't making the riches I hear everyone else claiming to make. Me, I like to truck to support everything else I want to do in whichever city I want. I did my best to get down to Lakeland, Fl a lot this summer. If I was picking my own loads, I'd be headed to the truck show in Dallas (I've never been to one). A lot of guys just want to get back to the house. Me, I want to go here and there, I want to call the shots. I really loved the opportunity to take off a day, a week or a month without anyone really knowing or caring.

I've been hanging out over at Kevin Rutherford's sight, CDLofit. Kevin has a lot to share, and I like all the talk about business and mileage improvements. Even so, coming back to CAD, I see there are still a lot of quality posters and a lot of meaty topics. Over there, the threads move through so quickly it's hard to have a long running dialogue about one particular thing.

Well, I'm broke down for the weekend, under load. Fan hub, can't get the part until Monday, Mike, I hope you don't mind a little talk in between your pay numbers. Honestly, the only number I look at is your YTD rate per hub mile. It's a great yardstick for how I'm doing (not even close, though there are the tradeoffs). Plus, this is the best collection of O/O tankers on the web...well, the little I've seen!
