I got that info from certain "friends" within FCC. This came about as a result of discussing the 10 Meter problem. The thing is, FCC knows that the CB denizens will not be satisfied with anything. IOW, they HAVE 40 distinct channels, the majority of which are QUIET most of the time.
Then they showed up on 10 Meters, sometimes as high as 29.600 MHZ. THAT wasn't enough, either. So they are now BELOW CB and there is no reason to expect they will not continue to migrate DOWNWARDS. *I* don't talk on 26.735 at all; I'm just relaying the info I got. I listened to drivers down there--that's all.

There are NO-EXTRA-CHANNELS anywhere that will not have potential to get you a BIG fine! Those 26 MHZ frequencies are assigned to remote relay stations, used for data transmission and control links. The US military has assignments there as well. Just because YOU don't hear something doesn't mean that somebody isn't hearing YOU! I am merely giving you the facts: Civilians do not have authority to be operating down there, it is strictly illegal. That's all.
