I'm having a intermittent lack of throttle response.
When accelerating I'll have no throttle response for a moment after a up-shift.
Here are more details:

Happens a couple of times in 3 full days of driving.
Lack of response lasts less than 3 seconds.
I replaced the throttle position sensor with no change.
Engine drops to idle when it happens.
Does not occur unless you are shifting.
Only has occurred when accelerating.
Response returns without any help from me.
Speed, weight, temp, have no bearing on event
Has never occured when reving to complete a downshift.
I generally use the clutch when shifting
No codes.
Cruise control works

Any Ideas??

Have you replace the fuel pedal itself? I had a truck doing that and we replaced the fuel pedal and the problem went away.

I had the exact same thing, changed the sensor on the pedal and it went away. Mines a volvo too. What it would do is as you got onto the pedal, it would buck back and forth. Not very safe!

I suspect maybe a wiring problem? You're sure theres no codes?

I have replaced the Position Sensor on the pedal. I don't get bucking, just a dead throttle on upshift.

I have something maybe similar on my companies 2005 freightliner. MAybe not, I'm not a mechanic. When I'm going up hill in 8th or 9th gear foot stomped on the gas to keep the thing rolling, there have been times where the truck will intermittently 'stop' accelerating for a second or two, then chug back into working. Now this isn't a fuel problem I dont think, as all times it happened I was on a full tank. Any ideas?

Your problem would seem more likely to be fuel related since it happens at max fuel usage...maybe :?

if it helps the yellowing/orange warning light comes on during the brief dead accelorating. It isn't that I'm tach'd out top end and the gear just won't go faster, I'm talking normal 13-15 hundred rpm, the thing stops giving itself gas. however there are no fault codes.

Do you have extractable codes if you don't have a constant warning light?
If Yes...how do I look at codes on my Volvo N14

Does your truck computer work? Use the stick on the right side of the column. Take the screen to "diagnostic messages" and hit the "down" at the end of the stick. Now hit set. This will take you to the messages, and I think set scrolls through the different messages. Look in your owners manual for what the codes mean.

I'am looking at my manual now. Tomorrow I'll double check but I don't think anything is stored.
Thanks

if the CEL came on, and then back off... there is almost certainly an inactive, stored DTC that can be retrieved

i wouldn't expect that the dash comp displays all codes... but, i'm not certain of this. similarly, many diagnostic switches only display active codes
