I know that the penalties will be worse for CDL holder for breaking some traffic violations (DUI's, speeding), but what about driving an ATV on a dirtroad or a paved road?

Provided that I had a clean record, but got caught and written a ticket for driving one of these on a public road, would this look bad on my driving record?

When you hold a CDL, there really isn't any such thing as a "good" ticket.

I don't think that one ticket for the offense that you mentioned would throw up any serious red flags as far as your hireability, though.

"Scoe" and "Sheepdancer' are recruiters, and "G-Man" has hired drivers to drive for him; they could give you a better answer than I can.

If you receive ANY citation for a moving violation, it is going to show up on your MVR, regardless of what type of vehicle you were driving at the time.

The only case where the impact of the citation varies is with speeding tickets. FMCSA will revoke your CDL for too many speeding tickets while operating a CMV, but the speeding tickets you receive while operating an auto do not apply to that situation.

Anything that happens whether in a 4 wheeler or commercial vehicle should appear on your CDL. I doubt whether this will hurt you as far as driving is concerned, unless it involved speeding or some other moving violation. From your post, I doubt whether that is the case. Carriers and insurance companies are mostly interested in moving violations. These would include speeding, reckless driving, DUI/DWI, etc., Most will allow you up to 3 within a 2-3 year period unless the speeding is excessive. A DUI will usually need to be at least 5 years old with most carriers. Some won't hire you with a DUI, regardless of how long it has been.

Douglas: No offense here, but would you PLEASE either RESIZE your picture of that ugly dump truck to conform to the T.O.S. of this message board, or DELETE it, so I don't have to scroll right to left all friggin NIGHT to read the posts on ANY thread that you happen to post on??

Maybe you don't realize it.... but YOUR picture, which is out of specs per the T.O.S., causes the page to become EXTENDED beyond our/my screen size.

The MODS SHOULD be doing this for you... or warning you, but they NEVER DO!!

Really... it's a NICE ugly old truck! But, a smaller sized picture would make my HECTIC life so much easier!!!

Thank you.
