I was just wondering how hard it would be to change out my sureshift transmission in my 2001 freigthliner century. I want to change to a 13 speed. What will be involved.

I do beleive it is a meritor. Is it difficult to change autos to a manual? Just wondering if it would be more work than its worth.

In the case of an auto shift, they simply added an electronically controlled shift bar housing (x-y shifter/top cover) and an ecu connected to the engine controller through a data link.

Does this have a clutch pedal?

What's currently wrong with it?

I have had a few probs like a sensor go out and it shut the truck down with no override to get to a shop, then a starter went out and it had to be towed. I just dont truust it and would rather put in a 13 speed.

What year of vehicle? The starter has nothing to do with the sureshift trans.
