I get the banned from forum message every so often on my home computer. Sometimes I will not be allowed to log in. Don't know why but just letting you know that you are not the only one it happens too.

I am not a forum Mod here, but Moderate on a Duck Hunters forum. What may be happening is a newer mod is banning a certain ISP account instead of a individual isp. When that happens a whole group of people may not be able to log in from a certain area.

How can you be Banned "Half" of the time?
You either are or you're not

mod is banning a certain ISP account instead of a individual isp

If someone is banned it's their ISP number and the People banned are Porn Spammers-Drug discount spammers-etc etc.

It's pretty simple. One or more IP addresses get put into the "ban" list, which happen to be dynamically assigned, and then when others get those numbers, they get the 'banned' message. Blocks of IP addresses in the list exacerbate the issue.

Naw, the only ones that get banned are those that truly get nasty and ignore warnings to tone things down. Being opinionated is fine, even being opinionated to the point of someone wanting to shoot themselves to get away from it. ;)

As far as being banned sometimes, it is usually due to an IP address for some kiosk or wi-fi connection somewhere that ended up on a ban list due to spam or some such nonsense. At one time, when we banned spammers, we left the IP's alone. However, more times than not, they would simply come back, so we started banning IP's of blatant spammers. Yes, it is sometimes annoying to end up on a banned IP, but it has cut down on the spam significantly.

No different than the average number of children per family, is it (I think 3.18)? :P Then again, about half the time I really don't know what the hell I'm talking about (7.796% of the time). :P
