Just to clarify... DDC and Cummins got EGR in the fall of '02 (octoberish).

CATs didn't have an EGR, till 2007, and frankly, i'm quiet happy, with my Acert...so far(246,000) :D

CAT isn't using EGR at all... they will be using CGI (clean gas induction) in '07.

The difference is where the gases are routed from. The "dirty" gases from the EGR engines are the cause of most of the EGR valve failures.

Cat is crap !
Cummins ISX is now a proven engine and totally compliant !
The ISX `07 has a better built EGR valve, located farther down stream and made by a different manufacture. The biggest change is a serviceable muffler ( that means it can be cleaned ... not replaced ).
The `07 Cummins ISX is a highly superior engine ... and moving up from a very good foundation !

CAT SUCKS (then they blow up).

We just took delivery of our 2006 International Eagle with an ISX motor.

Beautiful and smooth power.

I will let you know how good of a choice it is in about a year.

We have been crazy busy at work. I have been getting the new tractor operational and working on getting it working on our new thing.

We are going to use it to train new drivers with 140,000 lb Super Trains. It still will take some work to get it going, but it is our new direction and I want to make sure it is done right so we can get the effect out of we want.

Wrecks on the hill... ? I also wanted your opinion on the 1.8 meter high signal light rule that we have, not allowed over 1.8, 5.5 ft... every tractor around here is (non compliant) THESE are the only lights visible in weather? Idiots! ie. Headache racks... Frieght shakers come with, on the mirrors...

OUCH! Did you get bit by a CAT?

I agree as well, but to clarify... 1. Cat's acert engines ARE compliant (only "bridge engines" paid fines). Also, CAT's DPF is sericeable as well.

There was a fuel truck up there this summer that rolled over and blew up. Other than that I don't know of any others.

I have not heard of the light rule.
