Just wondering what everyones favorite truck driving movie is?
Now I know alot of you love the ubiquitous movie Smokey and the Bandit. I saw that and wasnt impressed. Maybe I was too young. My favorite truck driving movie is "Over the Top" starring Sly Stallone.

This has to be one of Stallone's most underated movies of all time. Stallone is probably the only person who can make a movie about arm wrestling and make it just as exciting as a Rocky or Rambo flick. This movie has it all, pressure, failure, love, and trust. This is definitely a good father and son bonding movie too. Stallone basically arm wrestles at local bars to make some sweet dough, he finally realizes he has a talent and should take his arm wrestling career alot further than anyone could imagine. So what does he do? He enters an arm wrestling competition to win a new truck and his whiny son goes along with him too. He inspires Stallone to become the baddest, roughest, pugnacious monster alive. Great action great acting. I love the scene where his father in-law is offering him some money to stay out of his son's life and he turns around to leave and his bodyguard wont let him through the glass deck door, sly tosses him through it with force. Or the scene where he takes his truck to his father in-laws mansion and plows through the fence in front. Lots of mullets, bad 80's music (Kenny Loggins *barf*) and the son is a bad actor, still a great flick. You should rent this movie if you havent seen it already.

There really aren't too many trucking movies are there?
The only ones I remember are not specifically 'trucking' movies; one was called "Breakdown?"- a trucker abducts Kurt Russels wife or something- stores her ALIVE in a freezer under his barn/shed floor. I recently saw an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer hithes a ride w/ a woman trucker, she asks him if he knows how to double-clutch, he says yes, so she lets him drive and he grinds the **** out of all the gears.
(Pretty lame, I know.)

Duel was one of Stephen Spielberg's first feature films.

The scariest thing about Duel is that it's supposedly based on a true story!
