I have been looking into maybe buying a tractor sometime in the future. Just wondering which one is the better choice while still not cleaning out my pocketbook.

You can usually get a good deal in a Freightliner as long as you don't go through their Select Program. I like International. They are a tough truck and you can often get a good deal in a used one. Volvo also makes a good truck that depreciates quickly. You can spend more on a Pete or KW, but they won't make any more money. I know some owner operators who bought a Freightliner and have been happy with their choice. I have had good service out of my International and KW. I would look for an aerodynamic truck rather than a hood which will usually costs more to run for fuel. I think any of the three would be a good way to start. I would first look at the type of freight you plan on hauling. Once you make that decision, it will be easier to make a recommendation.

I too have noticed you can get a pretty good deal on a International used. I was also looking at the KW T-600 and it seems like you can get a fairly nice price on those as well, I guess the market might be saturated with them? I don't know but the prices I saw last night seemed fair. 8)

Freightliner or International would probably be your best choice also trucks with Cat motors seem to go for more.

Cheaper implies used. It doesn't matter what brand, if it's not taken care of(oil changes, grease, air dryer maintenance, driveline oils changed, clutch adjusted), it's not going to be a "good truck".
