Whats reasonable? Swift offers classes for $3900 w/ guaranteed employment and 1/2 reimbursement if you work for 13 mo.
Employment does not seem to be an issue w many opportunity's out there for CDL OTR. I'm in Boise, Id. and would be willing to pay school tuition up front if that the best way to go.
Please help? |

8) I would check with your community college and see if they offer classes or know anyone who might be sponsoring a class such as your local union or local truck companies in your area. This will be far more in your best interests and at a less costs to you.
Many local colleges are now offering class A classes and not to many people seem to know about it?? Once you have your CDL you will be in a better position to look for a job that will still train you but at a little more money..

| Generally speaking CDL schools run between $3000 and $5000. There are courses that run less and some that run much more. There are often many finance options from job training grants to low intrest student loans. |

The school I am attending (1 of only 2 in town) ran me $2800 which included all DMV fees which they reimburse to me, so the course itself is actually around $2600. Yeah, it's a "CDL mill" but it's 9 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks.
Local community college (other only training option) wanted $1600 for the course, but that wasn't including books, materials, testing/DMV fees, or prerequisite courses..plus the course was 10 weeks long. |

| My schooling up here in Canada cost $4500 for an 8 week course. I will be reimbursed 2/3 of the cost of schooling from my company after 1 year of employment with them. |

| We're at Central Tech in Drumright OK. Cost for an Ok resident is 1600 for out of state residents its 3300. Even the out of state tuition is a major bargain as this school is rated among the best in the nation. Several companies use it and some like CFI will pay part of your tuition with no contract requirement. Thats the program my wife and I are in right now. Good luck on your decision. |

| Thanks for the info... leaning toward Swift in Lewiston, Idaho. Hoping for the best when it comes to the 6 weeks with a mentor. |

A good general starting point is www.careeronestop.com and click on WIA(workforce investment act) training providers. You can click on your state on the map to get information about WIA training providers.

I start the 15 week program this month. Nine weeks of class and six weeks of paid internship with company that will be hiring you. Cost is just over 3K for everything. BSU has a good rep as far as I can tell. The six week program is just over 2K. |
