Jevic is break-bulk free LTL. It's lots of stops loaded on a 53' trailer with a sleeper hitting docks made for guys pulling pups and day-cabs.
They pay road drivers around $15.00 per stop. NO THANKS!! You should be on the clock doing city work like that.
Your best bet is to run local for em'. +$20.00/hour, home evernight and weekend. |

I'm pretty sure the aren't too many JEVIC drivers pullin 75K a year!!! My pops drove for them,
(as a Company Driver and then as a Driver Trainer/Recruiter) and did not make anything close to that! 60K at most and ran hard. Just sold by previous owner cuz they weren't profitable. Harry is taking back all his old customers with New Century... just look at JEVIC equipment...POS!!! |

| Saia used to own Jevic but they sold Jevic to a private equity firm. Before Saia, Jevic was owned by Yellow. |

i leased to jevic for a while.
Yes, as ColdFrosty pointed out you will have lots of LTL stops, BUT most of the places i delivered to were big and you could get in pretty easy with a 53 and a sleeper.
And as far as 2 to 15 stops it was more like 5-6-7 stops and 2-5 pickups.
The money is good. As far as the driver supposedly making 75K, it may be possible but the driver probably had probably run hard and ran most of the weekends even though jevic really doesnt run drivers a full weekend. (sat morning, late, sunday night type deal.)
Jevic runs first in, first out dispatch so senority doesn't nessesarily matter.
On the plus side, you'll rarely if ever touch any frieght---if it's not on pallets, jevic doesn't want it.
The problems were that they tend to run things real tight, right on the edge of making it on time (legally, and possibility wise). You might not get "normal" sleep (8 hours).
jevic just got bought out by another company, so things are probably changing again.
Jevic is a good company, but i would be looking at New Century as a viable alternative. |

I'm currently pulling for Sharkey, dry van mainly mid west and they have been above average for me, good but far from perfect. Dont know anything about tanker divison but for dry van...If you are smart and run hard you can get some great miles,. A top choice especially if you have less than 2 years otr although they have plenty of old timers.
Several pay plans including cpm, percentage and even a $1000 wk guarantee with 1.5 days off. Lots of d&h but primarily short, under 500 mile trips although they do have some 700-900 milers. Free family major medical but no vacation pay, 401k, truck washes, paid hoildays, ect.
Trucks are mainly smaller Macks with low hp set to hey will lis65 mph that they pull in for pm every 8-10k miles. You can go all the way to the top, Jack Sharkey and if you have a legitimate concern they find a solution. |
