Say you get a job truckdriving like within the state. When it's your first day and they give you your routes, will they send someone to ride with you to make sure you know where everything is?

Say you're delivering bevarage drinks to a store, you would want to know where to park or back up to.

Knowing me, I'd probably be nervous the first few times I did it. Especially in a place I've never been before. Once I've gotten experience though, I'm sure I'll learn to love it.

you will be with a trainer for 6-8 weeks, their you will learn about shipping and recieving, you will most likely the first day solo , drive up and park truck , get out take paperwork to someone and they will let you know the routine..... it will come to you after training is over...

Depends on the job. OTR, you'll probably be with a trainer for several weeks showing you everything you need to know and generally being your baby sitter. LTL, you'll be with a trainer for a week or so showing you the ropes, but he's not there to teach you how to drive and how to back up. Small local company, hang on by the skin of your teeth and don't get lost. 8)

if you are driving the route trucks with the doors on the side and you have your cdl already, they will show you your route. Thats the equivelent of one week. then you are on your own. If you are on a bulk route you have someone with you until they are confident you can back the rig into all the docks. BOL

I spent a grand total of 2 days with a trainer on my first job. He showed me my regular daily route, the paperwork and border crossing procedures. When i went out on my own it was quite overwhelming for the first 2-3 weeks but you eventually start to settle in just like any other job.

Like they said, depends on the job.

When I hired on with the company I'm with now I spent 2 weeks with a trainer. However the trainer had ZERO to do with driving training. He was just showing me the ropes in terms of dealing with paperwork, customers, etc.

Don't be afraid to ask the company questions like this. It will save you a lot of trouble.
