Well everyone I just got prehired by Covenant to go to orientation in Dallas TX on sunday th 17th through to thursday the 21st. Does anyone know if they actually want/check for a recent driving school diploma/certifercate? I graduated 4th in my class in Feb 2003 ( 3pt spread between me and the top student, I had 94.3 :) ), but lost most of my paperwork pertaining to my graduation due to my mom accidently trashing most of it when I had moved to Arkansas (dont you love it when a family members throws away important items? . I moved back about 8-9 months ago back into Texas. The only thing she didnt toss was a marketable skill acheivement award from a college my trucking school has a partnership with. It says " *name* has satisfactorily completed the prescribed course of instruction in Professional Truck Driver 100 " Im guessing thats the college's version of the course name.
As the topic says, this is my 3rd trucking job. 1st was KTL (good pay, crap equipment and trainers) 2nd was CRST Van Ex (1st trainer abandoned me in Kansas City MO near the caves *some of you guys know what Im talkin about*, he tried to leave with my personal items (clothes, pillows, etc) when I went into the truckstop right across from the caves to turn the trippaks in. He said he had it with me and that I broke the one of the rules by moving the truck forward a little bit cause it was blocking the way of another truck trying to get in, so I moved it about 10ft forward and when the trainer found out and I told him I had to move it, he went real apeshit about it and dumped me at the truckstop across the railroad tracks and took off. had to buy my own bus ticket home. 2nd trainer threatened me with the same treatment. that made me snap and I told him to tell my fleetmanager I quit.

Most companies that ask for a "diploma" only do so if the driver has less than 2 years of experience.

You should be able to contact your school and have them send you a new one if you want it, or at the very least an employer can contact the school and verify any info there.

I talk to my recruiter about what you just said a few days ago and she said they can ask them about the info on me at the school I went to. I hope she's right. I hate to get shafted at the last minute cause of it

Don't let the company think you are desperate to get on with them. It sounds like you were sitting back praying to the gods to hopefully get accepted into their program. As desperate as they are right now they will take just about anyone. So don't let them take advantage of you just because you are a rookie. Remember you are a human being and expect to be treated as one. Good luck.

3 yrs driving exp. plus the 10 yrs my dad took me with him OTR back from 83 93. Thats what got me into the industry in the first place. Nothing like the fresh smell of diesel fumes in the morning :)

If you have 3 yrs. ex, why are they making u go through a traing program. That sounds like BS. You should be able to walk right out orietation and get into a truck and roll. I was out of a truck for 4 years and when I came back, I only spent 4 days with a trainer before I got my own truck. Doesn't sound right IMHO.
