There are a few companies like CR England and Prime, basically any company that really pushes a lease purchase program, that you want to stay away from. Other than that most of the rest are fairly close to being the same with only a few differences here and there.
What a driver needs to do is figure out what s/he wants and needs from a company and then find the company that comes the closest to meeting those needs.
One important thing to remember is that what is one person's garbage dump is anothers persons hidden treasure trove. |

There are a few drivers that work for these companies and do great and love the ccompany , most don't . Top 5 large carriers to avoid
1. Prime Inc.-No need to mention why
2.Western Express-Maybe a suprise to a few , but low pay , crap hometime and nothing but northeast and you have a junk company.
3.Heartland Express-Everyone says there pay is outstanding , if you have been in trucking and have a brain , you know it's not . Short route miles, short length of haul, heavy loads, heavy northeast, consistently low weekly miles, and they pay you for NOTHING on top of dispatched miles .
4.CR England-Has to be in the thousands of drivers who have been ripped off on the lease purchase plan
5.Swift-Most unqualified drivers on the road as a whole . Just a terrible company . |

| It's really amazing these companies continue to stay in business. I guess as long as these carnival act recruiters feed the lines they do they'll always keep their seats stinky and warm. |

I agree with your 1-4, but you're picking on Swift. Werner or Schneider have the same quality of drivers. It would have to be a 3 way tie for the 5. spot. |

C R England definitely wasn't very good 10 years ago when I drove for them.
I stuck with them for a year and a half, which put my about 2/3 of the way up the seniority list. |

| If you include Covenant, you must include US Express, since they are sister companies, both mislead rookies and run them like slaves |

Sure, I like any company(large or small) that pays a decent mileage rate, pays their promised extra pay, honor their hometime, get the driver decent miles, and don't try to kill the driver by forcing them to run illegal...
Other than that I ain't too picky!  |
