scroll down there are a number of links about the USIS(DAC) report.
If you want a copy of one call 800-381-0645, free under some circumstances, if not its 9.50, if i was you order one, its nice to know whats on it, most trucking companies will pull a report on your if you apply with them.
When i ordered mine, it included employment history(this could be blank if you have never been in the trucking biz.)
3 yrs MVR report
lifetime nationwide criminal record
Inquiries on companies that have pulled your file in the last 36 months |

| How long does it generally take for a company to report to DAC after you part ways with them? |

| I would say that it depends on the company. Some would probably do it immediately. It depends on how busy they are. |

| Thanks, I was just curious, Ive never worked for a company that used DAC before, so Im not familiar with the way it works. It kinda seems like a shady service to use. Ive heard some bad things about DAC |

i think with every service like this, there are good points and bad points. if someone uses it the way it's supposed to, it's an invaluable tool to help save time and streamline the hiring process. but when it's used incorrectly, or abused, then it not only causes problems for the drivers, but it undermines the system as a whole.
as an example, one of my coworkers a while ago ran some guy's dac and on one of his employers it listed he had a "company policy violation" - which when you see it, you think "DANG this guy musta done something really bad". turns out he washed his own truck instead of taking it to a company sanctioned car wash. that's something that's going to cause problems for him for a long while - especially if he applies somewhere and they don't take the time to call and find out what the real story is.
i've also run across a few records where it looks like someone just went down the list and checked everything off - abandoned truck, cargo loss, late pick up/delivery, log violation, quit under dispatch, personal contact requested, unauthorized equipment use, unauthorized use of company funds, excessive complaints, etc etc etc. you can't help but think the guy pissed someone off at the company and this is their revenge (cynical? me? nahhhh...)
what's sad, is under "work record" you can have the choice of satisfactory, superior, and outstanding -and i've only seen 1 superior in the year i've been processing applications. it's so rare to get the GOOD info from a company about GOOD drivers, but the bad stuff you hear all the time. kind of depressing if you think about it.

as far as how long it takes to report something - i agree w/ GMAN it depends on how many folks they have to add to the termination records. |

| Personnally, I think they should do away with DAC. Just like toner said, piss someone off and you're screwed. Don't drivers have enough to worry about without that hanging over their heads? You can give a proper 2 week notice and turn in your truck when and where and how they want, do everything "by the book" and still get screwed over just because you want to leave a company. Might as well park it on your dispatchers car or desk and toss 'em the keys. And how many "bad guys" does it really keep out of trucking? Ohhh don't do that, it'll go on your DAC. Don't say that, it'll go on your DAC. What a crock of crap. It's a good way for a company to keep all their little ducks in row, I guess. |

| I've actually seen some pretty good DAC reports here lately, even had one from a girl that was actually eligible for rehire EVERYWHERE she has worked without first needing a review. That definately says something. If you ever do not agree with what is on a DAC report, you can always file a rebuttle. Sometimes this can help on an employer's decision. |

What that says is that the new regs and stricter accounting by the companies is paying dividends. It used to be that the companies felt like if they had an axe to grind, would put no-rehire on it. Now that the ramifications can be doled out by the government, they think twice on it, especially since that DAC report becomes a matter of record. |

i actually saw a rebuttal the other day where the guy rebutted the fact that the company said his work record was "satisfactory". like, what dude, did you think you did a crappy job? :D
i've seen 2 or 3 'superiors' in the past few months too. it's kinda nice. |
