Here is something to consider before going to Celadon. They have become one of the primary shippers of freight coming out of Mexico, if not the #1 shipper. They pay the Mexican scum to run their freight into Texas for .19 a mile so they don?t have to pay you. Of late, they have had to lay off a major portion of the Mexican driver because all of the freight coming out of Mexico is/are (I never know which one to use) automotive parts and all you have to do is look at what?s happening to Ford and GM sales to know why there is a steep decline in shipments. In an unstable economy, stay away from trucking companies that rely heavily on market segments that get decimated in times like these.

One other thing that can not be over looked. Celadon pays HHG miles. That's a good 10-15% FU. Do every driver and yourself a favor. If a company pays HHG, just say NO!

As long as you are thinking out load, try doing it at www.cfidrivers.com. Crocodile started a board there last month and it has been busy ever since. You might find the answers you are looking for over there.

I use to drive for celadon and they were ok for about 1.5years and then they turned the "dirt lot" in waxahachie into a full terminal and that took away the port huron-laredo run that i did alot. i got tired of them takin miles away all the time. 1 good thing celadon has that ALOT of other companies dont is a hometime macro..i NEVER had a problem getting home on time. They would rather get me home a day early than a few hours late which was excellent. on a scale of 1 to 10 i give them a 6.5

PLAYBOY... you are kinda right... Celadon has added alot of those damn International Mini trucks. I was assigned one, told'em I quit, route me home. (And I meant It!) They found a Freightliner for me a week or so later. Talking to other drivers many of us did ther same thing. Rumor is the guy that bought them has been re-assigned.

As for the 1030 miles per trip.... I'm not sure what I get, haven't calculated it specifically. 1030 miles per trip is what Celadon posts as their most recent metric on their INVESTOR site.

As for me.... yes, I would guess it's pretty close.

As for the profit taking by the CEO's.... yes it is a fact (See the Investors site). http://ccbn.10kwizard.com/cgi/convert/pdf/CELADONGROUPINC8K.pdf?
pdf=1&repo=tenk&ipage=4351088&num=-2&pdf=1&xml=1&odef=8&dn=

As for the selling out to the cheap Mexican labor... yes it is a fact....Good for my stock, bad for my job.

EVERTRUCKERR.... you WERE right about the automotive parts business.... Celadon was married to it! This Russell guy (CEO, Cornell graduate) is sharp, they figured it out and have now diversified, auto parts is now only 5% of their business! Other frieght from Mexico is rockin for them, they now have six terminals in Mexico...Mexican company is Jaguar.

As for HHG miles... It is my understanding they call it "short miles, outer edge of a city to outer edge, and yea, it rips you off about 10-15% of the actual miles you drive!

MARCEL, you are right, Waxahachie is now a very well run, organized, AND PAVED, terminal! Bad news is the racists attitude and commentary one gets from the latino staff there towards American, non-hispanic drivers. It's gettin nasty!

And yea, you are also right about the home time, they do it right. You need to get home, your there.

And that's the rub... Well run company, good miles, pay a bit low even with the bonus, but good place to work..... for now.

My problem is where it's headed. They raised the rate they charged their customers by .10 cents per mile in the last year (not icl surchgarges) and gave their drivers ZIP! The CEO stated, "The drivers are happy, we don't need to raise pay"! They brag to investors they gonna be raising ithe rate they charge customers more and be givin the drivers ZIP! They choppin at the bit to get "those Mexican Trucks" rollin in the US.

Listen to them discusiing ngetting more "Wetback" and "MossBack" (Their Words) drivers. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=113735&p=irol-EventDetails&EventId=1350424

Traitors... their taitors and profiteers! I cannot abide!

Yea, I know what you mean about those Internationals, I been drivin for CFI for awhile now and I hate'em! The company is good, good pay, miles, but this damn truck is too small for OTR! I'm thinking of Landstar, gettin my own truck, maybe Celadon, NOT NOW!

Evertruckerr, yea I know what u mean about these Mexicans. kinda like this "Headed4home" wannabe American wetback. He needs to head for home, back to Mexico!

I gotta give credit to "Movinit" and "OK". Give up a little for principal, to keep from bein a sell out. I think this is something "SuperMex' (is that an Oxymorn) Moron? doesn't know much about. That's seems to be the difference in Mexico and America. Bastards only care about themselves... that's why their country is such a cesspool of hate.

"Headed4Home", you might think your an American cause some piece of paper, but u be a Mexican, born of deviate illiterate, degenerate illegal Mexican scum. You will NEVER be an AMERICAN cause all you want is for yourself! Scum, Mexican Scum! Go back to your cesspool Pendajo!

I'm not much on "thought crimes," but do you really have to verbalize your ignorance? Where are the moderators?

Easy dude..... you don't have freedom of speech around here. You might want to tone it down a bit if you want to hang around. Just a suggestion.

I am by no means a racist with a "rebel flag", however I am definitely against those who are coming into this country and stealing our jobs with their willingness to work for pennies. What the Mexicans don't realize is that the trucking companies would pay them the same pay we are currently getting. The freight still has to be moved and whether it is at .19 cpm or .44cpm it must be moved. Wake up Mexicans, you are selling out for pennies!!!! Why don't you all ban together like you have been marching on the streets of the U.S. and demand these trucking companies pay you what you should be paid? The trucking companies have no choice, they have to pay you because no one else will haul freight in Mexico! Stop focusing on taking Americans jobs, and start working on getting good paying jobs in Mexico!

A Mexican driver can only pick-up a load originating in Mexico, drop it in the US, and then pick up another load bound for Mexico. Neither he (nor a Canadian driver) can stay in the US crisscrossing the country delivering freight. This is called "interstating" and is illegal.

I thought this thread was suppossed to be about the diff between Celadon and Crete? What's with all this racists hate commentary by "Headed4Home" and "Mad.Dog"?

ColdandFrosty.... I'm not sure about that, where did you get your information?

Currently Celadon Mexicans drive in CELADON trucks from Laredo to Waxahachie (South Dallas). It's my understanding from reading their transcripts (Celadon's) that "soon" (whatever that means) Lyod Mineta, the outgoing Secretary of Transportation told the trucking Industry the Mexicans will be driving their Mexican trucks into the US using their HB1B Visa's, anywhere and everywhere they want! tHAT MEANS MILLIONS OF mEXICANS CRISSCROSSING THE us AT .15-.19 CENTS PER MILE?

My issue is do I still want to drive for a company so willing, so chomping at the bit to sell me out to cheap Mexican labor? Do I bail now or wait till they twist the knife in my back?

And what about Crete, I hate the opt-Idle deal, but what else?

I just checked the Crete website and it looks like driver pay just went up ANOTHER .03 cents per mile! I read rumors about this.

.41 for one years exp. up to .47 for seven years exp.! Wow! I'm sending my app off right now. That's about a $7,000 yearly pay increase over my Celadon pay!

Maybe I can talk'em into disabling my opt-idel?
