Business hasn't been slow for OD. Two Conway LH drivers moved over here a few months ago with the same complaints. Sounds as if management from their barn was playing some really screwy games with guys too. Though for OD we've been busting butt and putting in our 50-60 hr weeks. Time to make hay while the sun is shining.

As I said the slow down happend right after the rebranding when western southern and central express all became Con-way frieght. Now a large slow down upper managment jumping. Hmmm smells like a sell off. make a company look weak and merge all three frieght sides in to one yep the stock holders under this condition would sell to save a loss.

IMHO, but maybe someone is thinking of a sell-off ? I wonder to who though, as all the "big players" in LTL have already made large acquisition's this year. I remember the C/F debacle too, hope Con-Ways management isn't the same. Keep us posted.

Lets hope not. They put up a letter saying that they ain't selling out. But who knows. I still think its their prices that drove some companies away from us. There is one that we used to p/d for but they left due to a monthly savings of $20,000!

Keep us posted. Let us know where you go. If you are in California, pm me and let me know if I can help. And I did the wife/school thing too. It's a pain, but it's worth it. After over 4 years, she finally got her BSN. Ate a lot of macaroni and cheese......

WOW..... this week was bad. Although I did run Tuesday, I took Wednesday off ran Thursday and ran Last night. I only had runs because half of the line-haul drivers were on vacation this week. I went to Detroit Tuesday and Cincinnati the other 2 nights. The FAC's were like a ghost town!!!!! Usually in both places it's hard to get around on a tow motor, had no problems and plenty on room this week. Something is way wrong but I don't care anymore, Monday is my last day. Going to Start with Roadway on Tuesday as a road/linehaul driver.

Thank You Mr. Miller aka "fat beard"!

Rumor around XFW is that the stock holders had a big meeting in Dallas this past weekend. Seems they want to oust Mr. Miller. Due to screwing up Central. True or not I don't know.

I also heard last night that it was a good thing that I was leaving due to they were getting ready to "Economic Downsize" three positions. One of them would have been mine. I guess they got throwed off by me quitting, a guy cut his finger off at home, the other guy who is above me is gonna move out to the new trailer shop when its done, before December. So guess I would have gotten hacked anyways.

Well Monday was my last day. Went to Roadway's orientation and go on the board tomorrow at 5am. Back to living by the phone but it doesn't seem to bad with Roadway, they have a 800# you can call to find out were the board is and if they are running at rest (getting called back in after your 10 hour break). My plan is to just stay out for my 12 tours and get my 3 days off, hopefully that will work and I don't get sent back home?

Best of luck ben. I used to drive for yellow for two years. As I am sure you know yellow and roadway are now one. Do not get excited about the 800 number for updates. At my terminal they didnt do one half the time and when they did they would say its slow and then your phone would ring at 3am to go to NYC. It is a great job but be prepared for many ups and downs until you get some seniority. Biggest thing is make sure you know what you are suppost to get paid for. They pay you for everything-and I do mean everything, but you have to put in for it. Locate the union rep and talk to him about all the things you get paid for. The company will not. Good luck. If I can help let me know.

Hi teamster, thanks for the reply. Well today didn't go to well. Was told I went on the board this morning at 5am, well turns out its tomorrow at 5am. I live 2 hours away so I headed towards Columbus at 4:45am so I would have 2 hours to arrive for work. Not a very big deal though.

I was very impressed with what Roadway will pay you for your time. Conway had alot of those perks but not like the way Roadway's are.

I do have a couple questions though: When dispatched is it better to stay out or use the R43 to get back home? Seems like if you coming out of bed they are more likely to keep you moving rather than paying you to sit in the hotel. If your sitting at home your not a big concern to keep moving.

If your not concerned about getting home every 3 tours, obviously you can make more with the wheels turning than sitting. Is it wise to not try to collect hours while sitting so you can have more available hours to drive? or is that a NO-NO with Roadway? At Conway I would not charge all the hours I worked so I would have more hours available to get the good runs, when you slow there is no advantage but if your busy your allways close to being out of hours.

I havnt really had alot of time to talk to drivers to figure out ways to do things, at Conway I knew all the ways the play the game and get the most money.
Thanks in advance.
