Yep, I've always logged it as I do it anyways. I have worked at a place that let the drivers log it somewhere in the same day. Which I didn't understand. But seems the norm from the places I've been was within 1/2 hour.

-21?! Nice job barrelburner.

Just log it as you do it folks, it's just that simple. When you make .40+ CPM you shouldn't have to kill yourself or run yourself into the ground to make $900-1100 week.

Ave. miles per truck per week?

Crete being a privately held company does not have an Investor site where one can do research on THE FACTS, like Celadon does. I'd like to know some facts before I switch....

Thx guys.

In nearly a year of driving with them I have had exactly ONE incidence of fuel routing that took me more than a couple of miles off route. There are a few fuel stops that i refuse to go to. The pilots in Greenville, Va. Roanoke, Va. and Gary, In. are three examples. If i get routed to one of those I just call my terminal manager and get it changed. As long as you don't constantly ask for new fuel solutions they don't mind. There have also been a few times when I couldn't get a hold of anybody and just stopped where I needed to and never heard anything about it.

As far as weekly miles are concerned, I rarely get less than 3000 unless it is a week I am heaing home.

Great Followup Karnajj.... Thanx for the info. Still havn't decided to switch or not yet. Celadon is a good company but their pay is about .08 cents less than Crete's!

Couple of other questions for any of you Crete drivers:
...Safety Bonus, looks like has been discontinued with the advent of this new .03 cent pay increase.... yes?
.....Does Crete pay dock detention?
.....Is it true inverters are not allowed, AT ALL? How am I expected to power my flatscreen?
.....Is OPT-IDLE on all their trucks, is it required?
.....Am confused about the website payscale, is that .41 or .38 starting pay for two years driving experience? (OTR)

Thx,
OK

Be glad you don't run out of Wilmer. It is easier the find an honest politician then to get the terminal manager to change a fuel stop.

You get detention pay after the first two hours regardless of whether or not Crete can collect from the shipper or the consignee. With all the drop and hook loads Crete has, detention is rarely an issue. In a year I've collected it about 8 times. I believe it runs $11/hr.
You can use up to a 400w plug-in inverter or you can have Crete install a hard wired 700w inverter that you purchase from them. It's not cheap.
Opti-idle is on all the trucks, it's not an option.
Pay is based on the number of jobs you've held over the last few years. The more jobs the less the pay.

Actually, as of 9/1/06 .41 cpm is the minimum starting pay across the board for one or two years experience and they did do away with the quarterly safety bonus.

When I drove for USpress, they initialy had my home terminal listed as Memphis, TN, instead of Medway, OH. Memphis is the Central Time Zone, compared to Medway being in the Eastern.

My first log audit had 85 'dings' for fueling 1 hr off.

They found the mistake and fixed it, however.

Just a question on this "fule solutions" thing. Has this become standard pracice in the industry? I've spent most of my career driving for small carriers, where such things don't exist. I was however contemplating a jump to a larger carrier so I can get some better benefits. I'm kind of out of touch with how the big carriers work these days, so I am curious. Frankly, this fuel routing thing sounds kind of annoying.

Desert Rat, as I'm sure you're aware, the sad fact of the matter is that fuel is one of the most costly expenses for a company and anything they can do to cut those costs helps. I personally think some people make way to big a deal about the fuel solutions. Whenever I've had a problem either wanting to run a different route or just need fuel sooner, I simply call or shoot them a message on the qualcomm and they change it for me. The one thing I've found that I don't like about it is sometimes you're not filling the tank, but only getting enough to get to the next fuel stop to fill. Yet you still have to log 15 minutes on line 4 each time.

Strange, I've never heard of such a thing as relying on a computer or dispatcher to tell you where to fuel. I doubt I could tolerate such a thing. I've always had either a list of approved TS's where I could fuel, or a Wright Express card where I had even more freedom about where and when I fuel. Sounds like Crete has you guys on a leash.

While I worked for Marten Transport, they had a fuel stop list and as long as you fueled at a T/S on that list you could get as much fuel as often as you needed to. I do miss being able to do that. However, Crete is trying to control fuel costs and it can be somewhat inconvenient at times to follow a fuel solution or plan your trip so you hit your fuel stops at the time of day you want to, but I hardly consider it being on a leash and it's a small price to pay when I consider all the good things there are about working for Crete. Like I said in my previous post, fuel solutions are far from being written in stone and we are not routed here. If you want to run a different route and it's not to far out of route, (more than 10% or 100 miles), you simply let them know and they will change it.
