I wish-maybe I could hit em then
Not that we have any pheasants around here-Menominee county has em though.
My First Bow when I was a Kid was a Bear bow-Don't remember the #age though.
 Ya A doncha know..., ours are pretty good size down here. Day have a shorter neck, tail, and legs, but the body size is about the same. Pretty good size plate of bird...by golly A.

..... :? but then we let ours eat more than twigs, dirt, and rabbit droppings.
why don't youse guys grow something up dare...huh? crymany. ya A?

I think those Bear bows are still the best for the dollar. There are plenty of brands on the market, and lots of them are more expensive. But...I see so many guys come up here with thousands of dollars in gear...and never even see a Deer...they didn't pay to be put infront of.

Just like these bicyclists coming around here. Crymany...all the fancy gear they have....even little tiny rear view mirrors off their helmets, and special pants, and shirts, and shoes, and on and on.
Cripes...I still have my Schwinn 10-speed Varsity, and it goes just as well with my tennis shoes and cutoff jeans. Funny to me how people need to spend their money. I see guys perfectly healthy having to hike now with a pair of ski poles....just because I guess they saw someone else do that...and they figure they too can't hike proper without them....and a dozen special designed hiking necessities....even heart monitors, and dog radar devices, with warning notification loop incase of pending lawsuits....digital camera, and direct feed irragation systems.

Okay...I'm bothered.
I know I'm going to see these morons in my woods soon....and so far it is still illegal to use them as a baitpile.

Two things my parents never forced me to eat-One was sauerkraut and the Other was Lutefisk..
Lutefisk is probably pretty good but you have a clothespin on your nose to eat it. :P
To anyone who doesn't know-Lutefisk is a Holiday Fish.

:D Now I can put away the sauerkraut and knockwurst, bratwurst, and such. I love it! We have Wiederkehr Winery at Altus, Arkansas, about 20 miles from here. There is a German restaurant there and I've eaten there several times. The food there is absolutely fabulous! My great-great grandmother was Swedish, last name of Stallcup. 8)

I was never interested in Lutefisk either.

Speaking of Swedes. I've grown up with some Carlson's...yoopr. I wonder if there is some relation?
Pete Carlson started the Carlson's Fishery here in Fishtown.
His son Bill is about 10 years older than me.
Now Bill's son Clay runs the fishery. This is a photo of Clay.

Clay is also a bit of an artist. He did this for the Leland Wine & Food Festival held each year here in Fishtown.
That is one of their fish tugs he is in front of.
I've fished out of the Chub Tug...one like this only out of wood and fully covered.

This is a photo of a classmate of mine...Alan.
The Black & White inset is of Pete...back in the day.
We all have worked at the fishery at one time or another.
Use to be lots of local families ran fisheries here.
Alan still works down there and another couple childhood buddys of mine.
Like trucking...this kind of business gets in your blood.
These guys are only at home out to sea...or working the nets.

One more week to go for Whitetail Bow season to start.
I am going CRAZY !!

Sorry about the photos. I really screwed up my photobucket, and I'm still sorting it out. I made the mistake of creating some subfiles. Some photos are lost, and others are not. Now I never know which ones are working. My MS Internet Explorer shows them fine, and my Firefox doesn't. It's basically a mess...but I think I'm slowly figuring it out.

In a week I'll be hunting Whitetails, and I'll no longer care anyway.

Down here we have the ethnic family names that predominate too. Most everyone (locals) are related, and over the years through marriages...seems everyone is a cousin to everyone.

My Dad was German and a tad bit Irish second generation. My Mom is all Italian second generation. We have lots of French and Polish here as well.

There are half a dozen family names you hear alot.
