I know USXpress has a pet policy but do they limit the driver to only one pet? Does anyone know if four small chiuauas would be out of the question?

Also: if you go w/ Xpress right out of school and use their auto transmissions, does that mess someone up 6 months down the road or so if you want to switch companies that provide 10 speed? :?

If you wanna abuse one dog, why would you want to abuse four. Trucks are noisy, dogs hear sounds you can't.
As far as the auto trans, make sure your CDL isn't restricted. BOL

I personally would not go with a company that runs nothing but auto's straight out of school. I would find a company that uses manuals that would do the same thing that US is going to do for you. There are a lot of companys that allows pets on the truck. I might think that 4 dogs might be a problem with any company, and I really don't think it would matter how small they are. This is just MHO.

I have been debating myself whether the manual would be good out of school but I think you're right. As far as the pooches - I personally dont have any but was checking for a couple people who asked me about it.

To tell u the truth I'm not putting much faith in any of these companys being a newbie and cant wait until my training days are over.

You will likely limit yourself by having experience with only autos. As far as pets are concerned, I think having a pet in the truck should be looked at like driving while on a cell phone, reading a magazine, drinking a cup of coffee in heavy rush hour traffic. Pets can be a distraction in a truck. Other than being bad for the animal being couped up for hours on end, they can decide to play at inopportune times and cause you to be distracted at the wrong moment and you are in the middle of an accident. Personally, I feel that if you can't leave home without your pet, then you should just stay home. I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but when you are driving a truck, you are at work. I don't know of many companies who will allow workers to bring their pets to the office or factory with them. Being in a truck is no different, except that you could hurt or kill someone or yourself with a distraction at the wrong moment.

Why would you want an automatic transmission anyway?

as far as usxpress u can have 1 dog or 1 cat. most companys that is all they would allow i know one driver who works with me has 2 little yorkies about 4 pounds combined i personally take my 65 pound german sheperd with me she loves it if i try to leave without her she jumps in the truck and and she is very well mannered in the truck nows to stay in back while i am driving ets can be good in a truck if u are a responsible person and take care of them i stop every 2 hours when i can for her and take for at least 1 long walk at a rest area per day. :D also great because no one messes with my truck

My brother and his girlfriend want to team but will only do it IF they can bring along their 4 teacup chiuauas. That's why I ask.

Who knows - maybe they'll find a company eventually, but it looks like they would have to go as O/O to do that.

One of our drivers just bought an old U.S. express truck with an auto transmission. He's had it for about a 6 months now and swears by it.
