|
|
| Well I took a load from Landstar DEX broker out of Monroe Michigan. Loaded at a place call Howard Ternes Packaging. Was told to be there just after 10:00am today. Got there at 10:15am for this and hit dock at 10:18am. They had to load 10pcs at 2500lbs. After sitting 45mins and only 2 trucks in the docks I called Landstar. Agent says it will be another 15mins, I said ok. Well after about 90mins I see they blocked my truck with a big steel container...hmm. Them a pizza delivery came for them and then it was lunch time  Well 12:05pm came I told the shipping clerk to not load my truck and that I was leaving. So at 12:15pm I shut the doors and headed back home. This load had to be in Atlanta at 7:am tomorrow and I have already burned 4hrs in the coloring book  . Landstar agent does not understand by I wouldn't wait 2-3hrs. without being paid? So now I am banded from moving anything for Landstar  Was I wrong for this anyone? I own this truck and trailer 3hrs loading 756miles with 3 stops with the 1st at 7am for $1155 sucked  So correct me If I was being stupid. :D |

So 0$ was better?
I dunno , there is a lot of people who would leave . I used to wait with my Dad watcing it rain hoping we would get in some work after it stopped . Every day is not perfect . ON the other hand I think you would have had a choice to not to ever load there again.
I cant see where you gained anything , sorry.

| No sorry needed. I respect what is said good or bad. This couldn't be done in time for the reload in Atlanta. They canceled me when I called them to change the time to later cause of this delay in Monroe. I would rather make $0 then cost me $$. |

I will not say you are right or wrong because it is your operation, however with that being said i have also closed my doors and pulled away from a dock.
My question to you would be did you negotiate detention pay with the agent before you took the load, that may have save some headache. Being able to go home made the decision a little easier, if you thought legally you could not get there and get 3 drops off and reload, the rate became terrible by going into day 3 for $1155. I would say the decision was yours to make and you made it. There are way to many people you can load for, I would not worry about being barred from one outfit.
Let me say this, just like we talk about bad brokers, brokers also talk about bad carriers. |

You probably should have negotiated for detention pay before agreeing to the load. Also reserve the right to adjust the delivery time after loading is completed.
Of course you could have logged two of those hours as off duty and that would count for split logging, so no net loss of time.
I don't think you were stupid or wrong, but you did learn a lesson about checking details BEFORE accepting the load. |

| They said they dont pay detention. And I should say that the $1155 is gross. I get 80% which makes $924 to me for all this. |

| Thanks for all your comments so far. I am not worried at all about not getting landstar freight. my people think it is just talk anyway. Landstar would have to get my version I would think before making that kind of decision. |

Not bad .
It was your decision and there is no one paying your bills but you . I dont think anyone can make that decision for you but you put the vote deally up there. :P
More somthing to the note of a job completed with Landstar. I remeber Gman recalling that it took him 4 hours to load one time and he stayed till he was loaded . But then he refused any loads from there in the future.
What would Landstar have done if you had stayed and got loaded with a canceled load? Redirected it ? Paid you for your time since you stayed there to get loaded? This made them look bad and they didnt do it .
So Im wondering why Landstar disagreed with you ? I guess what I mean to ask is what would have been their option in handleing it?

| She said they have no problem getting someone else to cover it. That was the last thing I was told. |

| $924 for 756 miles is a lousy rate to start with, even without the wait. |

Is is Landstar's policy to refuse to load you if you leave a shipper? Did u know that ahaed of time? When I was moving general freight, I would get very frustrated when loading at shippers that seemed to just sit around. The would not make thier job any kind of a priority. I would keep looking at the clock trying to figure out how late I would have to drive to make up for their laziness. I don't blame you for leaving.
I probably would have stayed if I knew that Landstar would refuse to load me after the fact. I would not go there again to load.
I am glad that I do not have to deal with such folks anymore. |

I'm really confused about these loading docks. I hear this a lot and even about Walmart. Don't these places have a boss. Man, I would be all over the lazy bums and fire them. I pay you to work 8 hours and if not, I'll find someone else. At least that's the way it should work.
I would have left also! |
